Johnny Cash (February 26, 1932 – September 12, 2003) was one of the greatest musicians to ever live.
Cash's deep voice and boom-chick-a-boom sound became distinctive trademarks, as well as his dark clothing and demeanor, earning him the nickname the "Man in Black." He started all his concerts with the simple introduction "Hello, I'm Johnny Cash."
Cash became a superstar and icon worldwide with widely popular songs, such as "I Walk the Line," "Folsom Prison Blues," and "Ring of Fire." Many of Cash’s songs were humorous, like the infamous “A Boy Named Sue.” Others explored themes of love, murder, and spirituality.
Cash sold more than 50 million albums in his career. In 2006, the posthumous release American V: A Hundred Highways debuted at number one its first week, showing the continued interest in Cash and his music.
A member of both the Country Music and Rock and Roll Halls of Fame, he is recognized as one of the most important musicians in the history of American popular music.
About me: The legendary lyrics of Johnny Cash are the inspiration for this collection of essays and short stories, each providing a new look at the musical legend.
For nearly five decades, Cash captivated audiences with his unique voice and candid portrayal of the gritty life of the working man. His songs continue to strike a chord with listeners today.
But it is the stories behind the music that remain with audiences and provide the inspiration for the work in this thoughtful compilation of fiction and non-fiction from contributors such as Lauren Baratz-Logsted, Don Cusic, Gretchen Moran Laskas, Amanda Nowlin, and Russell Rowland. Literary Cash is edited by noted pop culture expert Bob Batchelor.

Thank you for adding my reading page. This art project has gone beyond my expectations. Thank you for this.
I am working on a new piece fueled from “I am Who I am” and the overwhelming response I received. I keep reaching a little deeper each time I write. Each time wondering if I am going to far, and I might loose my readers or listeners, my doubt has thus far been silly.
