Little green gets their own sound through their wide range of influences and a fair amount of disrespect for tradition. The lyrics are usually quite dark and brooding, and reek with ”swedish melancholy”. The music however, is often stirring and catchy with simple but effective vocal harmony. Some of their influences are: Darrell Scott, Levon Helm, The Greencards, Buddy Miller, Dixie chicks, Steve Earle and Neil Young.
Little green was formed by Thomas Pontén (mandolin, guitars and vocals) and Andreas Johannesson (Lead-vocals and guitar) in Gothenburg.
Little green has reached the finals in the swedish championships of country-music for three years straight. In december 2008 they embarked on a joint release-tour in Scandinavia with LA-musician, and bassplayer with Shooter Jennings, Ted Russell Kamp. In january 2009 they played The Royal concert hall in Glasgow at the Celtic connections and in february the same year they threw a sold out releaseparty in Gothenburg.
Little greens album “Crossing lanes” was released on the Rootsy-label 12/11 /2008. The record has been very well recieved with great reviews and a lot of airplay throughout Europe.
