The Little Ivory Blues Band started with just three members; Garrett Stoner on guitar, Seth Shoemaker on bass, and Aaron Lewis on Drums. At first, they were content doing instrumental jams at open-mic gigs, but soon came to the unanimous conclusion that something was indeed missing. With the addition of Mike Rowland, who had been playing drums since he was big enough to hold the sticks, Aaron was able to focus on vocals and harp. Such was the beginning of the Little Ivory Blues Band that exists today.
Although focused enough in their work to take home 3rd place at the annual Blues Challenge competition, hosted by the Blues Society of Central PA, the band still enjoys the casual and laid-back atmosphere of a good old fashioned jam session or open-mic gig.
The Little Ivory Blues Band is, first and foremost, a blues band; however, viewing "blues" as a very broad genre of music and culture, they have been known to throw a few numbers into their sets with more classic rock or funk origins, and even some traditional Celtic folk influences, a reflection of most of the current members' first band, The Polychrests.
With an ever-growing schedule, and with recordings in post-production, the Little Ivory Blues Band is moving full speed ahead, fixed on their mission to keep the Blues safe for future generations.
