The story of “Little Kim & the Alley Apple 3” begins with an ad in the music section of “Den Artiest”. By the end of 2007 Kimberly (Vocals) was looking for a new musical project ... in the tradition of the great female performers of the hot jazz era, like: Kay Star, Billie Holiday, Maxine Sullivan, Mildred Bailey, the Boswell Sisters, ...

By the time Tom (Guitar) answered her ad ... he had already gathered around two fine musicians: the boy wonder of the lap steel guitar Pat Cattoir & the man with a plan Slappin' Slim (Bull Fiddle). Their intention was to go on the road with self written material ... in a traditional honky tonk style ... the kind Hank Williams would have liked.

When Kimberly and the gang finally met on a cold and windy winter evening, you could tell ... there was an immediate spark of inspiration between the four ... a spark that hasn’t dimmed since ...

The outcome was obvious ... ‘cause what do you get when you mix twenties styled hot jazz vocals and honky tonk? That’s right: Western Swing!

Gradually, “Little Kim & the Alley Apple 3” developed their own unique style ... a nice mixture of western Swing, hot club and old fashioned twenties hot jazz 'n cool swing. Originals and traditionals, played like they were meant to be played: no frills, no gimmicks, no drums, ... Just pure melodies you can’t seem to get out of your head.

The songs you hear were recorded at the Closed Session Studio in Roeselare (Belgium) with original recording material of the hot jazz era. To reproduce the sound of the old days, some wonderful material was used (and is still used on live performances) like: 1938 Gibson EH-150 amp ♫ 1951 Gibson BR6 amp ♫ 1949 Fender Custom Double 8 lapsteel guitar ♫ 1848 French Double Bass “Charotte Millot-Mirecourt” ♫ 1947 Gibson L7 Archtop Guitar ♫ 1850s Floating Dearmond Pickups ♫ 1955 Gibson L49 Archtop Guitar ♫ And many more … We hope you like the sound as much as we do …
