A guy with serious issues...
Throughout my entire life, I was surrounded by music. Growing up I heard the likes of "They Might Be Giants", "Peter Gabriel", and "R.E.M.", but it wasn't until I was twelve when my family acquired an old church piano and it was soon after that I found a knack for playing any song back by ear. I started lessons for a while, but had no choice but to stop because my parents divorced and I had to move away across the state to Kalamazoo.
While in Kalamazoo, I picked up the trombone. For five years that was the instrument I went by (but after a long battle of rust and a lack of upkeep, I would later dropped it altogether). I also started writing quite a lot around that time - poetry, short stories, lyrics, etc. I remember using up my lunch time in elementary to sit behind a prop desk on the main stage to write lyrics and such.
I won't deny it - I had a difficult childhood. Mental and physical abuse was a common thing in the household, but that only strengthened my passion for the arts, if only in my head.
Liberation came in 2002 and I finally had a chance to go somewhere, though I wouldn't realize what my calling was until I started screwing around with Adobe Audition pre-recorded samples. I made my first unreleased album (I just know the master copy is around here somewhere...). Once the unused samples that they gave me with the software ran dry, I knew that moving onto a bigger program was inevitable. Usher in Propellerheads Reason.
In early 2004 Black Adam formed. Little did I know the first tracks for UV were being created as well. It was quite obvious (and at times painfully) that I was such an amateur at knowing how to work the program.
2004 came along and I was introduced to podcasting, more specifically "Podsafe Music Network". I put up several tracks and before I knew it, I was being featured on podcasts left and right. At one point, two of the tracks reached the top ten list for the Electronic genre on the HQ site for podcasting: Podshow.
January 2005 - 'UV' is released and as Black Adam was still being featured on podcasts, I receded back to the studio and went straight for the second release, "The Special Kid Is You".
Since 2004, Reason has been my Sound Creator and Editor (with Audition being used for fade-ins and fade-outs). It's been a love/hate relationship, mostly love because the program offers so much in terms of infinite sound possibilities, but once you start thinking big, the mastering and editing of Reason just can't meet up with industry standards. I know that sooner or later, I'm going to have to learn Logic or ProTools.
In 2008, Black Adam took a back seat. Little Plastic Stars takes the stage.
TREVOR ON A PODCAST??? UNBELIEVABLE!!!
