This is a story that has to be heard... Little Willie G. is considered to have one of the most powerful and soulful voices in the music-world today. Little Willie G. ministers at over 200 events a year to hundreds of thousands of people all over the world! From such venues as The Greek Theatre, The House Of Blues, The Honda Center in Anaheim, CA, Los Angeles’ Great Western Forum, Orlando Florida’s Conseco Waterhouse Arena, The Promise Keepers conferences (11 years as a minister of Worship), most recently “Damascus Roads - The Little Willie G. Story” aired Internationally by the TBN Network, is reaching the need in the lives of people everywhere. Little Willie G. began his career in the mid-60’s as lead singer for “Thee Midniters” the legendary R&B group from East Los Angeles. A charismatic figure/singer on stage, he has drawn comparisons to the styles of Jackie Wilson and Frank Sinatra. His music with Thee Midniters is still heavily requested on radio today and the four albums they made are highly valued amongst record collectors. Other Little Willie G. singing projects continued with the “God’s Children” group (UniRecords) and the successful San Francisco-based band “Malo” (Warner Bros. Records). Even with all this recognition and success Willie found himself unable to cope with the disappointment and failures that accompany the fast paced lifestyle of the music industry and this lead rapidly to a life of drug addiction and alcohol abuse. In the early days of March 1980 someone quoted this scripture to Willie, “What shall it profit a man to gain the world and lose his soul...”(Matt. 16:26). Little Willie G. was Born Again and dedicated his life to the Lord Jesus Christ on March 16,1980. The incredible compassion of the message of redemption and salvation that saved his life on that night, is now being shared by him and is touching the lives of thousands of inner-city youths and adults, trapped by the deception of gang violence and drug addiction. Committed to full time ministry since 1981, the last few years have seen Little Willie G. involved with the Maranatha! Promise Band and his own Los Tamaleros Band. Little Willie G., who was one of the leading innovators of the “East L.A. Sound” years ago, also makes the transition easily from English to Spanish and communicates fluently with simplicity and effectiveness. At present Little Willie G. can be heard on Shout Factory Records with his recording “MAKE UP FOR THE LOST TIME”, produced by David Hidalgo of Los Lobos, The Grammy Winning "MERCY" with Andre Crouch (Warner Bros. Records), "THE RIDE" Los Lobos' 30th Anniversary Recording, The Grammy Nominated "CHAVEZ RAVINE - A LOS ANGELES STORY" of which five compositions were penned by Willie G. with Ry Cooder of The Buena Vista Social Club fame (Nonsuch Records), "ROCK EN ESPANOL" Los Straitjackets (Yeproc Records), "DULCINEA" Tony Zamora & Tremoloco (Casa Julia Records), "KEEP YOUR SOUL - A TRIBUTE TO DOUG SAHM" (Vanguard Records) and one of his most popular recordings on Wagamita Music “LISTENING FOR YOUR HEARTBEAT” available at all local outlets. Considered by many to be the best singers to come out of East Los Angeles, Little Willie G. is getting the opportunity to prove it, by the grace of God, to the world.
Miss you bro! Glad to see you're playing the LA Holiday Celebration again! I wish I could be on stage with you! when's the Japan tour happening? best of luck, and much love!
Those with negative attitudes can't see past the horizons but those with positive attitudes continue to fight, believing in the possibilities life holds. I believe that our outlook in life determines just how far we will get. We always have a choice in life whether we want to just give up or if we want to keep fighting. No one ever said life would be easy; it does have its share of hard times. But those hard times help make us stronger and prepare us for the life waiting ahead. In order though to discover what lies beyond the horizon, we must continue to believe in ourselves and not back down even when we face the storms in life. Because if we make excuses as to why life won't ever get better for us and for why we can't heal or how surviving is just too tough, then we will never know where our lives can take us or how much better things can be since we've all ready admitted defeat in our minds. It's like the saying goes,
"Tough times don't last, but tough people do!"
We are tough and we can make it through anything since we've all ready been through hell and back in our own lives.
Sorry that we missed you at Taste of Texas yesterday. I was singing at a Wedding in Riverside. I love the food at Taste of Texas, one of my favorites. Hope to see you and Sister Francine soon.
