   About Live&Unsigned

ABOUT LIVE AND UNSIGNED

Live and Unsigned is the largest national music competition for original artists. It’s a National competition for unsigned bands, vocal groups and solo artists to perform live. Over 10, 000 artists have entered for the last three years in succession, making it the biggest live music talent search for original bands and singers in the UK.

The competition’s unique format allows the UK's break through acts to perform in their own genre and style, and the overall aim is to find potential recording artists. Live and Unsigned’s uniqueness is derived from its passion for and dedication to live music.

The Live and Unsigned competition requires all competitors to partake in live auditions, allowing the act’s live talent and ability to be judged appropriately. The acts then battle it out in the live shows at the most prestigious venues throughout the UK in a bid to discover the UK's best Live and Unsigned act 2010.

VODAFONE LIVE AWARDS:

The prestigious Vodafone Award Ceremony takes place annually at the Carling Academy in Brixton, London. The red carpet is rolled out for a host of celebrities and industry buffs who witness performances from the most current and popular music acts. Last year’s performances included: Mark Ronson, The Ting Tings, Glasvegas, Will Young, James Morrison, Estelle, Pussycat Dolls, The Automatics and Primal Scream to name but a few. Future Music Management through Live and Unsigned partnered the awards hosting the award for the UK’s Best Unsigned Act.

Vodafone’s Sponsorship Manager for the UK Belinda Stevenson stated “We are very excited to be working with Live and Unsigned at the Vodafone Live Music Awards. They are a great fit for our Unsigned Act award and we look forward to discovering some big talent together.”

Former Live and Unsigned winners Kiddo 360 went on to scoop an award, winning the coveted title as the UK’s Best Unsigned Act at the Vodafone ceremony collecting their trophy from Steve Jones and Juliette Lewis. Elmor (Live and Unsigned Grand Finalists) placed second. Awards were also taken away by Kate Nash (Best Female), The Ting Tings (Best Live Breakthrough Act), Mark Ronson (Best Male), Primal Scream (Outstanding Contribution to Live Music Award & Best Live Act), Kings of Leon (Best International Act) and The Spice Girls (Best Live Return). The winners were announced in front of a specially invited audience of thousands of celebrities, music industry professionals and other award winners and nominees.

COMPETITION QUOTES:

Radio 1 DJ Legend Annie Nightingale
"I am as enthusiastic as always at discovering new music talent. I look forward to hearing and seeing all the finalists at Live and Unsigned, and will do my best to encourage them on their way to an exciting and successful future. Bring them on!"

Malcolm McLaren with reference to Judging Live and Unsigned comments "We live in a karaoke world of entertainment where there is an undeniable thirst to find the authentic. To find it is like looking for a ruby in a field of tin. It requires you to have not just intelligence and bundles of energy, but integrity. That's why I'm the judge!"

Paul King from Future Music, who is better known in the music industry as the former Manager of Tears for Fears, Julian Cope, Level 42 and tour Manager for Genesis says “We have found that the competition is so effective for us to discover talented acts and bands and to place them in the music market place. We can really see those acts that have the commitment and fan base to be successful in the industry…and for the acts involved it is a great opportunity to develop, improve and impress.”

Dane Bowers who anchored the R&B quartet Another Level, Judged and performed at the Live and Unsigned National Final‚ "Some amazing acts and some real great talent. This competition gives everyone a great opportunity to show what they can do. The only way to see if you're any good! Because if your mum says your great, you think your great but here there are a few more to impress."
