Welcome to Livingston Music Scene's myspace page. Livingston is a small town slap bang in the middle of a region of Scotland's central belt known as West Lothian. Due to it's location very nearly directly in between the cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh this is a very well populated area and thus has a wealth of creative minds from all areas of the arts.
www.livims.co.uk is a small but very functional website including news items, gig listings and a forum all relating to the music, bands and solo artists writing, rehearsing, performing or genrally just milling around having a laugh with each other in West Lothian. The forum allows for everyone and anyone to post up information about what they have been doing or when their next show or release will be. There's also generally a lot of humourous chat on the forum too in the "Off Topic" section. The site was constructed entierly by hand (it did not come pre-assembled) by Kevin Morrison (a local guitarist) and despite being a busy man indeed is continually maintained by him very dilligently.
Although most people who post the information about their shows do so on the "Announcements" sub-forum, there is a Gig Listing page that an unknown lone hero updates to the best of their abilities to allow people to find out about whats happening in the near future without digging through the forum.
You will also find within the site a section where any bands or artists from the local area can list themselves in a "directory of bands" as such and have a small space for information about their material and band members etc.
Another main function the site offers the local music community is the regular (if by regular you understand that there have been a bunch of them and there will be more, but they might not necessarily happen for a while...) LiviMS Radio Show hosted by local behemoth Uncle Doogsie (he's kinda big) and recorded and engineerd by Kevin Morrison. The shows generally feature new material from whichever local bands happen to have something new in the works at the time and music from bands that have come and sometimes gone in the past in the local area. I believe all but the very first radio show can be accessed from within the radio show section of the site in mp3 format but since I happen to be a genius and a miracle worker I have the very first LiviMS Radio Show here on this page so you can download it for an hours worth of your enjoyment. The rest might appear here sometime too if Kev lets me put 'em here.
