About me:

.. I am a freelance writer, photographer, website designer, and editor. Some of my website-doings include John Spearn, who is a local singer/songwriter, broadcaster and novelist David Gilmour, and Montreal-based guitarist/producer Rick Haworth. I review books and music for a variety of publications, and am involved with a street newspaper called Edmonton Street News, sold on the streets by people trying to make ends meet. I am also the editor of Boyle McCauley News, a community newspaper focusing on the happenings in the inner city neighbourhoods of Boyle Street and McCauley... I am also a musician and songwriter. I play in a band that performs at houses of worship and conferences around the city. As a solo artist, I write and record acoustic music about life, love, and social issues and perform at numerous marches, rallies, and activist events... Speaking of social issues, I am passionate about peace, justice, fighting poverty, and media literacy. To that end, I am involved in several grassroots organizations such as the Edmonton Coalition Against War and Racism (ECAWAR), Council of Canadians, and the Edmonton Bicycle Commuters. I attend rallies and activist events, documenting them with my camera for a growing website, RaiseMyVoice.com. I also recently started publishing a quarterly 'zine covering the local activist scene called From the Ground Up... Besides writing, music, and social action, I enjoy reading, walking, cycling, hanging out in coffee shops, collecting CDs of ethnic and folk music, and trying out different kinds of ethnic food. I am leaning heavily in a vegetarian direction...

    Hey Paula!!!  Wondering if you can help me, since you are a woman with her finger on the pulse!!!    I was wanting to partake in some poetry reading/listening get-togethers.  Do you know of any in Edmonton or who I could contact?  Here's what I was wanting to do: I'm thinking to recording my voice, for my visuals, on my up and coming webpage... and wanted to listen to other voices and try mine out!  Thanks for your help!  Here's a recent work of mine that is sonn to be posted in my blog... it's called But Imagine: The Real Me.  Enjoy!

    Anarchism and the Class Struggle
    (a panel discussion)
    May 18, 2009, 4pm.
    The Hydeaway (upstairs from the Jekyll and Hyde Pub, 10209-100ave)

    Local anarchist organizers are hosting this event to explain the philosophy, history, and strategy of class struggle anarchists. It should be a great way to spend holiday Monday, get your hands on some anticapitalist literature, and meet local people in the scene.


    Snacks will be provided, and alcohol will be available from the bar for people with ID.

    Admission is free and open to all ages.

    Kirman... you rock!!! Here's my most recent reasons why...LOL #1: Veronica loved what you did with your card. She loved the colours and thought it was so cool that you created it with food colouring!!! #2: I love that you want to play again!!! The kids did some neat cards... I'll let you know when I'm finished marking them and about to send them off.
