Influences
Where do we start? Humm..... I think Sesame Street "One Of These Things Is Not Like The Others"......set the template. Kind of a dumb question..... other than musical style influences..which would be all fields, hybrids and early influences of rock....I believe you're influenced by every sound you hear, whether you say you like it or not, Dad in the shower singing Sinatra, Sister playing Abba records, Mom listening to gospel on the radio and big brother playing the heaviest and most rebellious shit he can find, you know the ones with the comic book CD covers.
In no order we'll try and name every rock act we can think of.....let's see.........Beatles, Alice In Chains, Harlequin, Cartman, Van Halen, Kiss, Yes, Journey, Audioslave, Moxy, Johnny Winter, Nick Rivers, Heart, AC DC, Deep Purple, The Who, Led Zep, The Stones, Small Faces, Montrose, Scorpions, Priest, Alice Cooper, Jane's Addiction, Army Of Anyone, Def Leppard, Pearl Jam, Ted Nugent, Sound Garden, Grand Funk Railroad, Rush, Boston, Cream, Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath, Genesis, Level 42, Filter, Vanilla Fudge, The Doors, Lynrd Skynrd, Pat Travers, Jeff Beck, ....................see where this is going? If we've left your band's name out and you have written some good tunes, we apologize.
Sounds Like
Heard everything from Audioslave, Alice In Chains, Edwin, to Pink Floyd? We dunno where people hear their references.............but that's what we've heard so far.
Darren's been writing and performing with Canadian Hall Of Famer's Harlequin for the last several years and it's been a blast.....also a good way to promote LUV as we sell the CD at shows. Darren is involved many musical projects writing for various artists, corporate groups and another project he is performing in called Snake Oil Sinners.
I've also written the theme song for the Tampa Bay Rays major league baseball team called "Feel The Heat Rays", which is posted. The Toronto Blue Jays are also using a song "branded" for them called "Feel That Way Again". I accidentally fallen into the sports anthem realm, with a figure skating theme for Cathy Taylor's routine and other instrumental pieces....and I am having blast deciphering what I think will work for them!
The songs are penned under Darren Moore, soooo I guess in reality this site is all about my personal "stuff".
The Living Under Venus is the side solo"esque" project, written and performed by me, Darren Moore (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards) with Brent Fitz (drums), Jim Cote (bass) and Ken Eichel (guitar). The band members are all classic rock fans and also tour and played/recorded with classic rock artists such as (Darren) Harlequin, Prism, (Brent) Vince Neil, Alice Cooper, Union, Econoline Crush and Theory Of A Deadman.
Brent Fitz (drums) and Darren Moore began their music careers together touring with Seventh Heaven, based out of Winnipeg. Darren moved west to write for a hard rock act based out of Los Angeles and Brent relocated to Los Angeles and became an original member of Union, aligned with John Corrabi (Motley Crue) and Bruce Kulick (Kiss). Ken and Jim worked tightly with Darren contributing in the writing and recording process. LUV recruited the guest talents of Jamie Hunting (David Lee Roth, Eddie Money), Spider (Loverboy, Street Heart, Tom Cochrane, Kim Mitchell), Jeff Riley (great Winnipeg based vocalist) and Dylan Hermiston (Remy Shand, Chantal Kreviazuk, Kyle Riebco, Harlequin, Deadbeat Honeymooners).
