As solo fiddler in Riverdance, fiddler/composer for the String Sisters, fiddle/violin soloist in the Broadway production of The Pirate Queen, and as new musical director of Celtic Legends, Liz Knowles has brought her distinctive sound, a synthesis of classical training and Irish traditional music, to countless stages across the world.
She has recorded and/or performed with a remarkable list of artists such as jazz pianist Marcus Roberts, classical minimalist composer Steve Reich, singer Karan Casey, singer David Kincaid, classical violinist Rachel Barton Pine, pop singers Paula Cole and Don Henley, and singer/instrumentalist Tim O’Brien.
Her distinctive Irish fiddle style can be heard on the soundtrack of Neil Jordan’s film Michael Collins. As a soloist, she also toured with the Irish dance extravaganza Riverdance and performed and recorded with the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra. She was a member of the John Whelan band and Cherish the Ladies and today performs as a member of the highly acclaimed String Sisters who have recently released a CD and DVD on Grappa Records.

Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
