International recording artist, singer, songwriter and performer, Liz Madden, has been involved in music and theatre for most of her life. As a vocalist, Liz moves easily between Celtic, Jazz, Folk and Classical music with great sensitivity and brings light and dark to every aspect of both her singing and songwriting. Her voice leaves a lasting impression with it's deep emotion and energy and has often been compared to the likes of Enya, Loreena McKennitt and Kate Bush.
A classically trained vocalist with a traditional background, Liz has been a recording artist for the past ten years culminating in the production of three solo albums, a new Celtic/Folk and a new Christmas album that have just been released along with a songwriting showcase album 'Going Home'. Liz also recorded three original albums under the name, Rua.
Liz's performances worldwide include headlining at the Festival Interceltique de Lorient, Catskills Irish Weekends in New York, the Lisdoonvarna Festival, World Music Festival and the 7th International Folk & Art Festival in China. Most recently Liz was the only performer invited to perform at an International Conference for Nobel Peace Laureates. Following that Liz performed with Irish fiddler Niamh Fahy (Riverdance) at the Seamus Ennis Centre in Ireland for a night of Irish Roots music.
Liz's theatre work includes the Drawing Room Opera Company along with various roles in musical theatre. Most recently Liz played a lead in the new production of Stephen Sonheim's 'Side by Side' in Ireland. Liz journeyed to America in 2003, where she had the honour of becoming a Native American Pipe Carrier. Liz has a Diploma in Music, a Licentiate Diploma in Musical Theatre from the London College of Music along with a Diploma in Acting from the Irish Board of Speech & Drama and ITEC Diplomas in Music Therapy and Alexander Technique. Current projects include an album songwriting collaboration with French Songwriter and Producer JMZ.
Its been a long time.. since I last passed through, having been tied up with a recording project and a few installations- but visiting our page and listening to you sing 'this land is my land' put a smile on my face this afternoon and made me wish I had dropped by sooner....
