Liz Stahler wrote and performed her first song to a gracious audience of proud parents at her sixth grade graduation. 16 years later, Stahler released her debut full length album "Stitches In My Sleeve" At Club Passim in Cambridge, MA on Thursday, September 27th to a sold out audience.
This young singer songwriter was called "an average girl blessed with gold for a voice and a penchant for songwriting," by Northeast Performer magazine, after releasing her debut EP "Turn The Lights Down in 2004. In 2005 Stahler received national recognition as one of 6 winners in the John Lennon Songwriting Scholarship contest for her song "Not That Easy" which has since appeared on network television shows "The Unit" and "The Ghost Whisper". Last month Liz had the honor of signing an exclusive publishing contract with Northstar media based out of Los Angeles.
Stahler has been able to distinguish herself in the folk community by her heart wrenching lyrics and her distinctive "achy bird voice" as Deb Talan described it after listening to "Stitches in My Sleeve". She is a performer who has excelled in the craft of writing, and woos her audience by her enthusiasm, quick wit and sheer passion for her profession.
Stahler recently received 3rd place in the Tucson songwriting contest as well as being asked back next year as one of their most wanted return artists. She was a top 20 finalist as well as an honorable mention recipiant in the Unisong songwriting competition and a regional round finalist in the Mountain Stage Newsong contest, where she appeared alongside Meika Pauly, Jason Spooner and Chris Pureka.
Stahler will be on a national tour this fall alongside close friend and outstanding songwriter "Brianna Lane". On her fall tour she will appear on bills with Girlyman, Moanin Malone's, Graham Weber, Kym Tuvim, Jasmine Ash and many others.
I'm going to be in New England on Monday. First NYC, then Boston, then Maine. Are you playing any shows in the next couple of weeks?? I'd love to bring my friends to see you play. If not, maybe we can meet up and have lunch one day or something? I'm not even sure exactly where you live right now, but my dad said you were in Maine. So, let me know!
