About me:
Hi. My name is Liz Whitehouse and I am Director of The Art House – a membership organisation for visual artists across the UK.
The Art House is based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. For the last 10 years we have been working towards creating a truly inclusive studio building, one that has brilliant access and support for disabled artists, allowing them to work alongside everyone else on an equal basis.
We’ve now raised the money (over £3 million) and Wakefield Council have given us a site. My blog is tracing the progress of the building so that everyone who is interested can follow its progress.
What about me personally? Well, I'm interested in the visual arts and crafts (obviously), enjoy reading, walking (I live in the Pennines) and swimming. I am particularly interested in history – in the way people lived in the past – and in my spare time I research my family history. I am married (over 25 years …!) and have a grown-up daughter who lives in London.
I hope you enjoy reading the blog and will follow our progress to opening the building – and beyond!
