Sounds Like
A girl who wants to tell her stories. There are threads of inspiration taken from all the artists I admire and continue to discover.
I grew up in Toronto, a big city with the feeling of wide open spaces where everything is new, grid lined and concrete. As a kid I familiarized myself with a variety of instruments, the first being guitar, which I have now come back to. I started singing at the age of 12 and songwriting at 13.
The big smoke with all it's tangled streets caught my attention about four years ago. I got caught like a kid in candy shop and have been here ever since. I entered the acoustic scene about a year ago and have been playing the London circuit since.
Dropping by to wish you a good weekend. I'm going to the studio tomorrow to record some new tracks for the album - exciting! :) Have you got anything planned? :)
hey liz, yeah, we had a great time at windsor and our set seemed to go down well with the crowds. maybe our paths will cross somewhere else sometime soon ? did your clapmed car get sorted okay ?
That's great that you're going home for a visit. I'm quite envious!
London takes some getting used to I think. I love the people here but it doesn't really feel like home to me yet. :) Looking forward to seeing you live when you get back. Thanks for the kind words on my stuff.
Hi Liz! Nice stuff and from TDot as well! I lived in Montreal for years, moved here about 4 months ago. :) Not sure if you know Peter Katz from Toronto, but he's coming over for a few gigs and we'll be playing at The Good Ship on Sunday the 27th. Come down if you have time!
"Struggles & Lulls", the brand new album from Joan Coffey, is available now on ITunes
'a voice that can enchant. Coffey's vocal chords deliver liquid gold with a divine Irish lilt.' FATEA Records 'charming and honest'. Time Out 'Joan's music exudes a warmth, humility and truth that is rare to find in singer-songwriters these days'. Thea Gilmore
