I looked through my record collection and this is what I found in no particluar order!....Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Feist, Martina Topley-Bird, Bjork, Portishead, Erykah Badu, Sia, Joni Mitchell, Soil & Pimp, Sun Ra, Carole King, Betty Carter, Dionne Warwick, Keith Jarrett, Wayne Shorter, Massive Attack, Goldfrapp, Radiohead, Jill Scott, PJ Harvey, Matthew Herbert, Eska, Zero 7, Roberta Flack to name but a few...but generally...the vibe is anyone who's doing it the good way!

...but for those of you without the time or inclination, the basic story goes like this...im a Devon lass whose lived and loved music for as long as I can remember.
Tooting the clarinet and saxophone from the age of 7 gave me a thirst for jazz, then after discovering my voice with the school big band during a rendition of 'Skylark' aged 11 there was no stopping me!
I went on to study music in all sorts of places from clubs to conservatoires and got my first taste of session work with Ninja Tune's 'Chris Bowden', performing 'Crockers and Killers' on his 'Slightly askew' album in 2001. After recording for various other artists I released my debut album 'WATCHING SPACE' in 2005 with an indie label 'The Birds'.
After gigging in Europe with the 'Nostalgia 77' Octet I become part of the 'TRU THOUGHTS' family with whom I released 'RAISE THE ROOF', a deep orchetral soul/jazz album in 2008, co-written and produced by bass player Riaan Vosloo and 'NOSTALGIA 77's' Ben Lamdin.
Since then I've just finished recording an acoustic version of the album entiltled 'THIS & THAT' featuring acousic versions of the album tracks plus some brand new tunes due for release in April 2009.
I can mostly be found gigging in dens and dives all over the UK and Europe.
I've got a habit of appearing on stage with 'NOSTALGIA 77' (Tru Thoughts) and 'THE HERITAGE ORCHESTRA' (Brownswood) amoungst others. I sometimes appear behind the DJ box and entertain the club crowds and the rest of the time im hanging out in North London.
...a jazzy lassy? a soulful bird? Call it what you like...just enjoy. LP x
