I Wake Up Screaming is a Novel based on actual events to a Marine during the Viet Nam War and the lifelong struggle with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder since the war.
...excerpts from I WAKE UP SCREAMING:
As the NVA bled to death, his blood formed in pools around my boots. When blood comes out of the body it is ninety-eight, point six degrees, warm and sticky. As the blood lies in pools it starts to congeal and smells a real sweet smell, like clear pancake syrup, so sweet it will make you sick.
I shoot the NVA twice in the face, point blank, with the .45 Auto. That close, it was very messy. The impact of the rounds into the NVA’s face forces his body to jerk backward. The NVA still had a hold to his AK. As his body jerks back the tip of the bayonet cuts open my left forearm, about a four inch gash. The bayonet cut open my arm but the wound did not bleed much.
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a debilitating psychological condition.
Doctors describe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as a potentially crippling mental condition caused by extreme stress.
I wake up screaming. The story of my life since my body came home from the war. My mind will always be a prisoner of the war. It never stops, it never goes away.
