Praise for Servant: The Awakening “Entertaining paranormal romantic suspense that grips readers…Romantic fantasy readers and fans of Buffy and the movie They Live will want to read the first tale in the human war against demons.”—Midwest Book Review
“Unique and fascinating.”—New York Times bestselling author Elizabeth Lowell
“Brash, darkly edgy and insightful.”—Romance Reader at Heart (romancereaderatheart.com)
“The first book in a new series, The Awakening features a unique heroine, a wonderful hero, and a likable sidekick…The gritty, atmospheric, inner-city setting, graphic violence, and raw language are perfect for a story that unfolds, scene by scene, like a graphic novel and cries out to be graphic-novelized en route to the movies. May this be just the first in a long series.”—Booklist (starred review)
“A new name and an enticing new series propels Lori Foster into an exciting new direction…Servant: The Awakening practically blew me away…[It’s] brash, darkly edgy and insightful. And all grown up. Kudos to Ms. Foster for this fascinating, utterly unique fantasy.”—Romance Reader at Heart (romancereaderatheart.com)
“Fascinating…a new twist on demon slaying.”—Fresh Fiction
“With Servant: The Awakening, L. L. Foster shows she has a true gift for writing dark urban fantasy…The Servant Series will be addictive.”—The Romance Readers Connection
“Brilliant…The tone, intensity, and sheer grittiness of this book is awesome. I think Ms. Foster was channeling early Anita Blake, Eve Dallas, and a dash of J.R. Ward…a great intro to a series that I will be following religiously!!”—Night Owl Romance (nightowlromance.com)
“Dark, gritty, raw…urban fantasy at its finest… As can be expected from the darker alter ego of Lori Foster, L.L. Foster delivers characters that are engaging yet in your face…This looks to be the beginning of a really great series. Get your copy today and get in on the ground floor.”—loveromancesandmore.com
About Servant: The Awakening
Gabrielle Cody was born with a calling from God. She can see the evil that lies beneath the skin of mortal man. Not the regular human ills that lead to bad judgment, but the true malignancy as one finds in serial killers. Gaby feels it down to her core when a demon is near, especially when they are about to commit some atrocity. Compelled, she fights in the shadows, a loner by choice and need.
Detective Luther Cross is intrigued by the no-nonsense waif who isn't cowed by a few drunk males intent on mischief. That intrigue turns inexplicably into attraction when faced with her utter indifference and potty mouthed comebacks to his overtures. But stumbling over a dismembered body while following Gaby makes him take a second and third look at her.
But evil is getting closer, stalking Gaby instead of the other way around. Gaby, used to being alone, suddenly has a friend she worries about protecting, and Luther, interested in much more than friendship, distracts her from her calling. Even worse, Luther's a cop, and what Gaby does is decidedly against the rules, especially to someone who can't see the demon beneath the human skin. Can a vigilante and a cop find a workable middle ground in life and in love?
Heroes
Military guys. So many Americans have forgotten just what it is they're doing, and how important it is!

Gabrielle Cody has accepted her destiny as one of God’s warriors, charged to destroy evil. When surrounded by violence, she must be ready for anything, but Gaby wasn’t prepared to see Detective Luther Cross ever again. He’s the beacon of reality in her life, the one thing that makes her feel human, like a real woman.
But Gaby can’t get caught up with Luther now. She has work to do, this time protecting the street walkers. But Luther gives her purpose, something more than just working at God’s whim. Yet her life of retribution is far too dangerous even for Luther, and this time, it’s not just their hearts that won’t come out unscathed…
Here's a fun puzzle for you to work, using my first two covers for my SERVANT SERIES.
Who I'd like to meet: Anyone from the UFC or Pride, but especially Rampage. I already met my other favorite fighter, Wanderlei Silva.
Our President.
Some of my favorite writers.
Matt Damon because I LOVE him in the Bourne movies. He's perfect!
Rob Zombie because he does SUCH an incredible job with scary movies. Rather than rely on special effects, he gets the "creepiness" from the actors, and that's so much more effective!
Thank you for the friendship, L.L. If you get the chance please check out my fiction blog. I post free stories as a way of introducing new readers to my work. Hope you have a great weekend.
In the 3rd installment of LL Foster's Servant series, Gabrielle Cody finds herself living with super-detective Luther Cross, while also hunting a deranged killer who wants to be a vampire. Blood drained bodies are left in the wake of a murdering spree. Because the homeless, transient and addicted are targeted, it makes it very difficult for Luther and the rest of the police force to track down the villain.
But for Gaby, finding the psychopath is only a small part of the difficulty. This lunatic knows Gaby, in some ways better than she knows herself.
Is it possible a long lost relative has located her? With family ties involved, and Luther's nearness interfering with her perception of evil, Gaby is up for her biggest challenge – both as a paladin, and a woman experiencing the first hint of love.
