Interests

  • General

Writing-everything I see, taste, hear, smell or do is in some way shape or form grist for the dark fantasy mill of my mind.

Fantasy and horror inspired poetry. Have always had an interest in this style. Especially those with Nordic/Scandinavian undertones.

Fishing, for those times I just want to get out there and forget about life.

Music, music. music. Computer graphics, developing a slight interest in photography, drawing, reading, gourmet cooking, international travel, dancing, sci-fi and fantasy, conventions, training and development, medieval history, ancient history, paranormal, Aztecs/mayas/Incas. Damn. I think that about covers it.
  • Music

My music tastes are varied. Anything from Tchaikovsky to Zwei. I am really starting to get into Electro music of all types. So, if you really want to know what I listen too (god knows why) here they are listed by country, but not in alphabetical order. I’m not that anal retentive and if you are that’s just too bad. You’ll get over it. LOL.

About me:

Twilight: The netherrealm existing between light and darkness; the slow diurnal descent into nocturnal submission; a time of transition and change.

Change...

It is the one true constant in our realities, no matter how skewed they may be Nothing remains static . Everything changes. Days, weeks, seasons, years, looks, knowledge, love, dreams, and even personality. Change inspires uncertainty, fear and nightmares. It quickens the pulse and enhances our senses. It complicates, disrupts, and transmutes each and every one of us through our environment, our commitments, our relationships and our thoughts .

Despite these qualities, change is an absolute necessity. Stagnation corrupts souls and imagination. Dreams remain dreams only if one lacks the courage to rip them from the sky and subdue them like the belligerent and elusive beasts they are. They can no longer hide from me.

There comes a defining point in everyone's life that alters them irrevocably; shatters their misguided views on themselves and opens up avenues of personal mystery hitherto unexplored. It is these avenues that lead us into the dark corners of our true selves. Where we can at last throw open wide the vaulted doors of secrecy and let what light we haven’t left behind shine down upon the heart of our being and pray we don’t cringe at what we find.

I am a dark fantasy writer and a gothic poet. I’ve studied under several well known authors and have personally met and correspond with several others. I have one fantasy novel published, another forthcoming, three more on the burners, and a gothic poetry chapbook of 100 rabid poems in the final stages of publication. Plans are in the works for another volume of another 100 gothic poems in the very near future. My writing is not for the weak of heart or mind. I do not spell everything out, nor will you find I describe anything in great detail. I will not coddle you. Reading is about exploration and using your imagination to envision what the author sees in his minds eye. I live to challenge your preconceptions; to shape and bend them to my will through my writing, or if you’re really lucky or interesting, then perhaps I may engage you through conversation.

With that said, I literally dare you to come closer; to dive deep into the blood of inspiration I’ve stained these pages with now and in the future. My veins run deep and my imagination treads paths where hungry shadows lie in wait . Read on at your own risk; let my words transform your views of the world and inspire your morass of dreams. For better, for worse, my work may change you, disrupt your life in ways that you will never foresee. You don’t have to like or accept it. Just read it and remember:

In transformation there lies beauty, ecstasy and discovery, but the process is never easy.

Nothing worthwhile ever is...

............

Who I'd like to meet:

My good friends, pals and kick ass proofreaders: Jasi, Marcin,Sammerz,CelticQueen, Monica, Erin, Cloud Spinner and Bella.

Sun Tsu, Julius Ceasar, Alexander the Great, Akhenaten the Heretic-personal hero- Glen Cook, Steven Erikson,David Eddings, Janet Morris-one of the worlds most underrated yet most talented fantasy authors, any and all goths, sci-fi and fantasy fans, D&D gamers, fellow authors, poets, thinkers, bands looking for help with lyrics, publishers looking for genre-bending stories that’ll bite them in the ass and force them to get their rabies vaccinations up to date, movie producers (yeah I know, dream on),graphic artists, naked mimes, pole dancers, intelligent monkeys and anyone who even remotely considers themselves interesting.

Please feel free to grab my promotional banner and slap it on or into your page. Help me get the word out about my fantasy writing to other fantasy and dark fantasy fans who might be hungering for something different than most of the books offered by the large publishers.

For those of you who do, words alone cannot convey my sincerest appreciation. And if by chance, I don't have a color that works with your page, send me an e-mail and I can get one made up that will blend in seamless with your page design.

Thank you very much for your continued support!

Daniel C. Nielsen

Just to let you know, my short story collection “A History of Sarcasm” is now available to buy. (It’s great, by the way.)

You can get it from www.doghorn.com

More details on my website, www.frankburton.co.uk

“The writer William Burroughs once called language “a virus from outer space”, and there’s a sense of that in A History of Sarcasm, where Burton holds words up to the sun and lets the light shine through them.”

Thanks. Can't say my birthday was everything I wanted, but it was good. I spent the weekend at Nuke-Con, and Sunday's game of Dungeons & Monopoly was one of the best I ever put on. I also had good response from the Ruff Writer rate sheet flyers I put out; I only had three left to take back.

Any response from the ones you've been putting out in your bookstore?

Daniel, i'm honoured by the support. Let me tell you more about my music :

-Soft Incarnation : Dark, Gothic, Indus. Someone condamn it guilty to be strangely rock, melodious, mystic, and sensual.

-The Treaty of the Shades 1 & 2. Rock Progressive Gothic. My accessories confessed it's Frantic,Thumped, Epic, Melodious, Resonant, Mysterious, Scaring, Dizzy, Evolutive.

Music is supposed to turn the time into space. I don't claim anything about my style. Everyone can be judge and give one's verdict.

    Greetings,
    SF
