Raised in Vidalia, Georgia, Lloyd Knight decided at a young age that he wanted nothing more than to be an entertainer. So he started right away, serenading anyone who would listen with Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues". Although he has expanded his repertoire since then, Lloyd remains true to the southern rock and country influences of his upbringing.
Lloyd has toured extensively since the early 90s, including such places as Georgia (of course), New Mexico, Wyoming, and Colorado. Since settling in Nashville in 2002, Lloyd has continued his busy touring schedule. Some of the more notable events include:
♦Music City Marathon, Nashville, TN
♦Vidalia Onion Festival, Vidalia, GA
♦Windows on the Cumberland during 2005 CMA Music Festival, Nashville, TN
♦National Anthem for Nashville Sounds baseball team, Nashville, TN
♦World Famous Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge & the Wildhorse Saloon, Nashville, TN
♦Country Music Hall of Fame, Nashville, TN
♦Riverfest, Clarksville, TN
♦Gibson Showcase, Nashville, TN
♦Summerfest, Winchester, TN
♦St Judes, Memphis, TN
Recently in 2006, he performed at the Grand Opening of Rockingham's in Alabama, and then he continued on to TX where he sang "Wishing I Was Home" for the troops at a Midland Rock Hounds baseball game.
Lloyd's first full length album "Hello Beer" was a huge success. It included his first independent radio release: "Hello Beer" which was widely loved and nationally played. The song is still today being played and is included in many radio station's "Friday at 5" weekend kickoff programs.
Under the Rustic Records, Inc label Lloyd recorded his second full length album "Takin' It South" which was released November 2006. The album features Lloyd's radio released singles "Was it Good for You", "Wishing I Was Home" and "That's What a Redneck Is". "That's What A Redneck Is" was Lloyd's first top 40 hit and has received great national and international airplay.
On a separate project in 2006, Lloyd was honored to be invited to participate in a Christmas album featuring country legends such as Porter Wagner, Little Jimmy Dickens, Tanya Tucker, Crystal Gayle, and Lori Morgan, just to name a few. The album featured all brand new recordings of these great legends covering Christmas classics as well as a few new holiday tunes. “It was an honor just to be in the same studio with these guys. I grew up listening to and watching Porter Wagner and now I’m blessed to get record alongside him and be on the same album”. On the album Lloyd recorded the Christmas favorite: “Winter Wonderland”.
Lloyd's live performance is not to be missed. His high energy style and love for the spotlight make for an unforgettable show that always leaves his audience wanting more.
