Featuring members of bluegrass mavens The Woodstove Flapjacks and instrumental aficionados The Sensation Brothers, Lafayette supergroup Big Joe Honeywagon are fast becoming a force to be reckoned with in their own right. Their brand of psychedelic old-time country rock 'n' roll is guaranteed to keep the good times rolling - Big Joe always brings a party.
Champaign, Illinois' Elsinore is a band in transition. After spending three years playing Americana/Folk music with an acoustic guitar, hand drums, and an easy-listening state of mind, the band decided to turn up knobs and stake claim on some land in the Indie rock frontier. Heavy riffs, foot-tapping choruses, and tasteful pop hooks fill in the holes from their deconstruction, and the reconstruction will take shape this spring and summer with a two-month US tour, festival performances, and a brand new album recorded close to home in central Illinois. Only more miles in the van, more shows, and more sleeping on strangers' couches will bring about the kind of change Elsinore is looking for.
Since 1999, Mike Reeb has shared the stage with such artists as Alejandro Escovedo, Denison Witmer, Bill Mallonee, Derek Webb, Company of Thieves, Rachel Sage, Michael Heaton, Pete Krebs, Sleeping at Last, and Switchfoot. Marc Thornton of The Red Eye writes, "the singer-songwriter keeps drawing positive reviews and kind comparisons to musical legends. Names like Dylan and Springsteen are often thrown out too loosely when used to describe up-and-coming artists. In Reeb's case, however, the connections may be warranted." Mike's musical and song-writing influences include Damien Jurado, Ray Davies, Bob Dylan, John Steinbeck, Gillian Welch, and Wilco's Jeff Tweedy.
