Nerve is the alias of HUI Ngo-shan Steve for presenting his music. Born in Hong Kong, Hui graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with a Bachelor Honours degree in composition and electronic music. He is a member of experimental electronic music group VSOP, DJ of the clubnight HEADROOM, as well as a regular collaborator of local theatre group Zuni Icosahedron. Hui’s creative work has been presented at various festivals including: Shenzhen & Hong Kong Bi-city Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture (China/HK 2008), Fringe Shanghai (China, 2006), Microwave International Media Art Festival (HK, 2005), Festival of Experimenting Traditions (HK, 2005), Hong Kong Electronic Music Festival (HK, 2005) and Creative Cities (London, 2002). His first orchestral work Re-Autumn was commissioned by the Hong Kong Sinfonietta. In 2006, Hui was invited by the Asia-Europe Foundation for “Hearing Helsinki” project in Finland.
Hui is currently teaches composition, electronic music and multimedia performing arts at the HKICC Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity (HKSC), ISCM-ACL World Music Days 2007 "Music Creativity Education Campaign" and Zuni Icosahedron "Multimedia Theatre Education Scheme". He is also an assistant of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts Electronic Music Studio.
