About Lo and the Magnetics

NOT YOUR AVERAGE BAND...

Finally, a band that has the guts to do something different.

An original blend of pop, ska and new wave treated with an Elvis Costello / Joe Jackson touch on the production side.

This quintet had been playing together for four years in a previous project. The natural evolution of the music led them to christen a new pop project in the Fall of 2004 to coincide with the release of their debut album "A Part" on Top 5 Records in Canada and Grover Records in Europe. The release was immediately followed by a major 5-week European Tour (Nov/Dec 2004) The album has received rave reviews and is beginning to creep its way onto college charts in Canada.

In April 2006, the band turned their sights to Asia where they played 15 shows in 8 days in the south of China.

John Carlotto	Jan 21 2009 2:58 AM Lo, Thanks for the add and comment. I played bari when I was in college quite a bit in the jazz band. It is a fun horn....I remember my whole head practically rattling when I would play a low A. The bari adds a lot to a horn section definitely...if we ever add a third horn that would definitely be my vote. Right now we use primarily trumpet and tenor for our stuff. I transcribe the horn parts in Bb and then it sounds full because the trumpet sounds an octave higher than tenor when reading the same written note. Good luck with your music. It was some kind of fat wreck style punk band if i recall correctly. That was years ago though, and right about now it's not so bad in winnipeg. - 3 ˚C and lovely today, warmer tomorrow, but the day after it'll cool off. So, in 5 days i will definitely not be thinking whatever i wrote on your profile way back when haha. Hope things are well - Greg
