   About Local Anxiety
"Canada's masters of social and political satire" Local Anxiety were one of the top comedy acts on the much-mourned MP3.com -- at one pointing owning ten of the top forty spots on the political satire charts. Their hour-long TV special Greenpieces: An Eco-Comedy won rave reviews when it debuted on VTV in Canada and is now in feature rotation on Canada's new "Green Channel." Shot live at the Vancouver International Folk Festival the show, featured special guest appearances by such Canadian icons as Dr. David Suzuki and received an EarthVision award from PBS for, "excellence in environmental film-making." Other featured TV appearances include CBC's Sketchcom, VTV's Jim Byrnes Show and multiple appearances on Canada's number one morning show -- Canada AM. They've received two awards for their work with National Public Radio in the U.S and have also been heard in the US on Dr. Demento. Since forming in the 1990s they've been featured at most major comedy festivals across Canada and have headlined at major theatres across Canada. Forgive Us We're Canadian has been heard on radio stations across Canada. If you have walked in the heart of the Greenwood
and have bathed in the light of its living force
remember what you have felt;
and whenever you pass a tree
whether it stands alone in a wilderness of human making
or in the depth of woodland,
give a moment of your time to listen to its voice.
For in many parts of the land the trees are dying
only the hearts that know something of the true wisdom can save them. (Anon)

Time to welcome in the Summer, health and happiness.

Si usted ha paseado por el centro del bosque verde
y se ha bañado en la luz de su fuerza viva
recuerde lo que usted ha sentido;

Hello you guys, just passing through, hope all is well.

Just spent a week with the Iona Community in the Abbey on Iona. had a great time with about 50 fellow pilgrims in the Abbey and 50 in the McCloud Centre. We eat, work and worship together; oh and don't forget the prayer meetings (down the pub). A transforming experience i would like to repeat.

"A few places in the world are held to be holy, because of the love which consecrates them, and the faith which enshrines them. One such is Iona ...It is but a small isle, fashioned of
a little sand,
a few grasses salt with the spray of an ever-restless wave,
a few rocks that wade in heather, and upon whose brows the sea-wind weaves the yellow lichens.
But since the remotest days, sacrosanct men have bowed here in worship. In this little island a lamp was lit whose flame lighted pagan Europe. From age to age, lowly hearts have never ceased to bring their burthen here. And here Hope waits. To tell the story of Iona, is to go back to God, and to end in God."
Fiona Macleod

The Iona Community, founded in 1938 by the Rev George MacLeod, is an ecumenical Christian community of men and women from different walks of life and different traditions in the Christian church that is committed to seeking new ways of living the gospel of Jesus Christ in today's world.

Down yonder little leafy lane
Where distant sound's of past remain,
I hear the sound of old time folk
Who dwell within the memoried Oak.

A maiden's voice in song so sweet
Percolates the forest deep,
She pick's the fruit of the forest born
Her dulcet tone of love, forlorn.

Deep within its heart doth flow
A winding, babbling brook so slow,
Meandering on it's way to sea,
The fuel of life and destiny.

And low, in distant muffled sound
The woodsman's axe on bark doth pound,
And hails of "Timber" do resound
As low, the beauteous tree doth ground.

Trail's where trails of Deer have trod
Age old courses, barren of sod,
Weave and mingle through the growth
There two pronged prints like - Slivey Toves.

Perhaps here so have lovers walked
In time and distant moment's talked,
Of love, or life, or other things
Like babes in arms, or wedding rings.

In silent secret rings of thought
The tree's remember, do not distort
The happening life of decades past,
Of moments shared and born to last.
