About me: HISTORY OF THE LOCAL BUZZ: "The Local Buzz" launched on 102.9 fm May of 1999 shortly after station switched formats and has been a staple of Buzz programing ever since. The Local Buzz was actually a "spin-off" of "The Nashville Tapes" a long running locals only radio show on another station. When the station decided have a format change the brass at 102.9 decided to snach as much of the talent they could. In doing so they aquired the services of Aljon who was the host of "Tapes." Aljon named the show and began highlighting local artists for one hour every week. After six months the show was finally expanded to two hours (still one hour shy of the old Tapes program). In 2002 Aljon took a hiatus from the show to tour with his band Mink and was replaced by his production assistant Natalie. The show later was relaunched as "The Local Buzz Live" broadcasting live sets by local artists from 12th & Porter hosted by Casey. In 2004 Aljon was asked back to host the show he started and has been playing you "the best ROCK that Nashville has to offer" ever since. The Local Buzz has been responsible for launching the carreers of many local artists giving them radio air-play, promotion, playing Buzzfest and station events as well as getting major label record deals. Tony Stone joined Aljon as a co-host in Sept. of 2008. After 15 years in radio Aljon retired and handed the Local Buzz over to Tony Stone in Sept. 2009. You can tune-in and hear THE NASHVILLE ROCK REVOLUTION Sunday night's from 9-midnight. For more info visit: www.1029thebuzz.com.
ABOUT YOUR HOST Tony Stone...
You might know Tony Stone as the host of 102.9 The LOCAL BUZZ on Sunday Nights and the voice of the Buzz Around Town. What you may not know is that he has been in the local rock scene since the mid 90's working in and around some of the best bands of that time. After spending time in the studio he wanted to have his voice heard and get away from the recording side of music. He came to The Buzz in 2005 and started working weekends on air. After a year he started working overnights on The Buzz. While doing overnights he would come in early to see what Aljon had going on and check out some of the bands during the Local Buzz. With his love of music and shows he wanted to get back around the local bands that makes Nashville's rock scene what it is today. Aljon gave him the chance to join him as a co-host on the Local Buzz in Sept. 2008. After a year of co-hosting the show Aljon retired after 15 years and handed the show over to Tony Stone. That brings us to the now where he is hosting The Local Buzz every Sunday evening and giving you the best local rock show around!
