The Local Gents are a St. Louis based, 5-piece traditional bluegrass band focused on live, energetic performances. Included are mandolin, guitar, fiddle, banjo, and upright bass. Influences stem from legends such as Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs, Red Allen, and Ralph Stanley. Not to be forgotten are the early years of Jerry "The Spud" Garcia, David Grisman, and the modern sounds of Blue Highway and Seldom Scene.
Members come from diverse backgrounds such as Jazz, Funk, Salsa, Classical and Traditional Irish music which differentiates their sound from many traditional bands. They enjoy an old fiddle tune, but their stronghold lies in the education and holistic sounds of 3-part vocal harmonies.
