About me:
What is Local Music Swag Productions?
Local Music Swag started when Stephanie Compton released a compilation CD at Christmas of 2003 for her friends and family called "Local Music Swag Version 1.5" (If you want to know, I'll tell you about version 1.0...). Now a year and a half later, Stephanie has expanded the group with her latest undertaking of a Venue Guide for Nashville. This myspace page focuses on that. If you are a venue in Nashville and would like your information published, please keep reading. If you would like to help put this guide together, and make valuable contacts, also contact me ASAP.

What is it?
The LMS Venue Guide is an extensive and up-to-date guide of the venues in Nashville. It includes booking information and details about the venues so that any scene veteran or Nashville newbie could pick it up and learn who to contact and where to play. The Venue Guide will also serve as an avenue for old venues to find new acts, and new venues to get their name out. There are so many places to play in this town, and it is easy to forget who is who, who to call, or who wants what. With the LMS Venue Guide, both musician and venues will benefit.

From the venue: What is in it for us?
Venues will profit from this guide because it will enable all venues to have a fair chance at the best talent. This book will be marketed to musicians, managers and booking agents. Tired of getting calls from groups who do not fit your genre of music or receiving useless press kits, or calls from unqualified bands? By asking the people who do the booking at the venues, this guide will get the inside info, and find out exactly what you, the booker, want. What you like to see in a press kit, what experience you wish the band to have, and usual contract agreements will be published in this guide so bands will know if they truly do have what it takes to perform on your stage. At the same time, venues may choose to have any or all of their information remain unpublished, and the final decision always is yours. LMS does not guarantee any booking or contract agreements. We are here to keep everybody from wasting one another’s time.
Also all venues will be given the opportunity to advertise in this guide. If you would like to pursue this option, please speak with Stephanie about this. Any venue that does pay for advertising will receive a to-be-determined number of books (as part of the fee they pay for advertising) which they can then sell on their own for-profit basis.

Where do the advertising dollars go?
This book is going to sell for CHEAP! We will use money collected from advertising to help cover costs so all artists can afford the Venue Guide. While the guide is being sold on a for-profit basis, the primary purpose is to get the information out there and to provide a service to the Nashville music community.

How long does it take? 15 minutes and you get published!
To have your venue published in the LMS Venue Guide, all you have to do is answer a few questions. Information that will be requested includes the following:
  • Name, Address, Phone number, website of venue.
  • Genre, vibe of venue, ages admitted
  • Sound Specs and Engineer names/qualifications
  • Stage Size, and building capacity
  • Booking info, who to contact, what you want to see in press kits

As mentioned before, any information may be withheld at your request, and you must make this specifically clear. If you would like to have your information published, it is free of charge (unless you choose to take out an ad). Somebody will contact you, and either set up a phone or a face-to-face interview in which they will ask for the above information. Feel free to inform your interviewer of special nights including weekly writers/open mic nights, or house band nights, or nights that you have a specific genre playing. This whole interview should take no more than 15 minutes.
The guide is scheduled to be distributed December 2006. Your cooperation will ensure that this deadline will be met.

From the musician: Why should I buy this?
Musicians will now have the Nashville music scene within their fingertips. A wide range of genres of music will be represented, and venues will be sorted by genre and location. You will now know what it takes to play on some of the best stages in Nashville, and who to call to get that show set up. Whether you are just starting out, just passing through, or are a Music City Veteran, this Guide will provide you with the answers about almost every place in Nashville with a PA system and room for an audience.
Who I'd like to meet:
Nashville bands, production companies, managers, venue owners, booking agents, anybody who wants to tour through Nashville. If you love the Nashville rock scene and want it to thrive, and explode with musical goodness, I want to meet you.
