Locrian Mist is one man, John Taylor, doing some amazing things with a guitar. He's only been playing about ten years, but he's apparently spent most of those years practicing mightily.

If you're a fan of Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, John Petrucci or the bands Edguy, Dragonforce or Sonata Arctica, you might really enjoy what John's doing with Locrian Mist. He even throws us death metal fiends a bone with "Endless Void". Opeth better sleep with their skates on!

On his Myspace profile, John writes that one of his goals is to be the fastest guitar player ever known. I haven't heard them all, but it sounds to me like he's well on his way toward that goal.

Don't think it's just gratuitous flagellation. What John's doing with Locrian Mist is extremely bewitching, harmonic, exuberant, and above all well done. Technically beautiful and emotionally heartening, I can only hope that in another ten years' time, I'll be reading interviews with him in Guitar World. 'Til then, I'll wear this EP out on rainy afternoons, and hope for a full length sometime soon!
