Lodekka is the London based side-project of multi-instrumental musician and graphic designer Stuart Dace. In a chequered and schizophrenic career, Stuart was lucky enough to be session sax man on the classic and truly seminal Primal Scream album Screamadelica, was a member of Mo Wax signings Deep Joy and has worked as Head Of Design at Chrysalis Records!
Lodekka is an altogether more low key project, but no less interesting for that. The music is recorded late at night in Stuart’s garden shed studio and can perhaps best be described as quirky, lo-fi stoner dub. It utilises un-usual instrument combinations including ukulele, melodica, double bass, clarinet, saxophone, electronica and ambient elements.
Live the project transforms into the Lodekka - Hi-Fi Soundsystem, a loose collective which includes various live musicians, DJs and a VJ/animator. They have performed at festivals including the Big Chill and alongside names like Coldcut and DJ Food.
Here's a taster of the live visuals by the Lodekka - Hi-Fi Soundsystem VJ and resident animator, Ross.
To get the full effect you have to catch us live, but we will be posting more of this soon along with some live footage when we get it.
