...smells like, sounds like ..then it must be, SOME SHIT!
Far from the average knucklehead up on the block, out of New York's Yonkers district, beneath the shade of a single tree stands the cool demeanor of Loer VelocityI.the melodious hush factor!
Gracefully enough, Loer (pronounced Lower) has ripped through NY's underground hip-hop music scene with poetic leisure, adding to his proficiently developed mural. Coming from a pure background of emcee battles, club promotions and graff writing, young Loe found himself at the heart of a growing scene, sharing the stage with, then, up & coming artists such as Sara Jones, Mos Def, mums, Talib Kweli, and Saul Williams at venues like The Nuyorican Poets Café and S.O.Bs since 1996. Throughout, Loe stayed busy in the studio, fine-tuning his recording skills and working with a wide range of artists.
Loer Velocity's collaborations have been numerous and they put his name on the radar of hip hop fans as early as 1999 when he first appeared on the Scienz Of Life album "Coming Forth By Day". Further appearances on 12" singles with Ace Lover, The Ancients and his own affiliate crew "Not For Nothin", plus albums such as "LiFE Longs Strugglers Paradise", the second volume of the Supperappin series and Embedded music founder DJ Ese's recent "Side: Two" have laid the foundation for his solo material.
2004 saw the release of Loe's debut solo 12 single "Breakout" which was positively reviewed in XLR8R and Elemental among others, as well as being placed on an episode of MTV's "MADE". More recently Loer Velocity released the mix-tape "Loe Noise Reduction - The Hush Movement", a collage of previously unreleased recordings from over the years. The mix-tape garnered him attention in XXL's "Chairman's Choice" column.
Which brings us to the present, "Ready For A Renaissance" represents Loer Velocity's first solo album. Over a period of 18 months working closely with Embedded music, Loer recorded aDONOTBLOCKOURADS body of all new material; paying close attention to developing a concise, and cohesive presentation of his unique voice, unmatched skills and charismatic personality. The core of album production is handled by Chris Jarvis and Donnan Linkz, complimented by beats from Grand Fortune, Caness and DJ Ese. The sound reminds the listener that you need not shout to be heard- Loer Velocity certainly doesn't.
Debut album was released October 3rd on Embedded Music
The 12" single, "Song i Sing b/w Convo Piece" is out now,
available at stores everywhere fine wax is sold and digitally on iTunes
THE MUSIC MEDIA IS A-BUZZ ABOUT THE LOER VELOCITY DEBUT 12" & MIXED CD:
"Loer Velocity is, in his own words, 'far from the average knuclehead up on the block.' The underground-dues payer's solied debut, "Loe Noise Reduction: The Hush Movement", leaves clues as to why throughout... I believe it's dude's voice, which despite some blunt abuse, is pitched high enough to convey some adolescent innocence... it's smoother than Land O' Lakes baby." - Chairman Mao (mixtape featured in Chariman Mao's XXL column)
"Lyricist Loer Velocity clearly loves the art of rhyming- a fact made obvious on this 3 track clear vinyl 12" release. He earns the right to brag... 'Man my tongues' just poised laid back and technical/definitely unlike the backpacking rest of you.' On "Elegance" he rides a quiet storm beat to ill effect, while "industry Standard" features Lifelong, Oktober, and Vast Aire- great to hear MCs doing it for the love." -XLR8R
"Loe's seemingly effortless arrogant flow on "Break Out" is tailor-made for the Labrynth's guitar-driven production. Choppy plucks abound and the crisp snares are just right as Loe warns MCs of their impending demise... "industry Standard," on the other hand, is the truth. Loer Velocity teams with Lifelong, Vast Aire and Oktober for a nice posse cut. The best part of this track is the diversity of the flows. All four MCs sound completely different and add something original with each verse over a bouncy beat courtesy of All Those MuthaF@k'n Reasonz." -Elemental
