After over ten years of loud music, tequila, three CDs, many great shows even better friends and fans, the LogosEye project is complete.
LogosEye began in 1997 with guitarist Todd Holzman, bassist Mike Light, drummer Kenn Gibney and singer Marcus Faliano recording the "Broken Now is Everything" EP at the GASHouse studio in north Portland.
In 1999, Marcus left the band, who invited DeadRedHead guitarist Chris Gattman to join. Gatt, inspired by the band's balance between ethereal melodies and heavy metal thunder, readily assumed the role of vocal frontman and co-lead guitar.
Shortly thereafter, Kenn left the band to pursue other musical interests, and veteran rock drummer Roger Hammonds arrived, bringing with him his old school chops and characteristic vocal harmonies.
The band resumed gigging immediately and began writing and recording their first full-length CD which came to be known as, simply, "LogosEye." Playing with the likes of Floater, Blyss, DFive9, Jollymon, TV616 and countless other great bands, Logos played for enthusiastic audiences all over the northwest.
After taking a break in 2004, LogosEye reunited to finish new material and record their second full-length album. In the meantime, Todd had built a recording studio behind his house and so the band engineered, recorded, produced and mastered their new record as a 100% indie project. In 2007, LogosEye released "The Last Perfect Day" featuring a striking cover adaptation of a photo taken by New York artist bucky sparkle of a fire artist known only to the band as "the riding man." The songs, heavily inspired by a near-death experience, sought to explore and reevaluate life and mortality; meanwhile, Gatt plundered Todd's collection of transient HAM radio signals and audio artifacts, finding musical value in the sun, aurora borealis and other, more mysterious cosmic audio samples which appear on several tracks. Todd added his own signature geekery including hand-tapped Morse Code ("What hath God wrought?")
In a less-than-subtle homage to the northwest bands that inspired so many local music enthusiasts through hard times and dark places, the album includes the popular favorite "Three Fingered Jesus"; a lyrical arc of the protagonist's musical experience that pays tribute to acts such as The Bella Low, Floater and Jollymon.
In the spring of 2009, the members of LogosEye determined that they had accomplished their objective: Two records, an EP, radio, print and television exposure and, above all, lots of shows for loyal fans and friends and for the sheer hell of it.
Our songs are not about darkness and death; rather, joy and hope in spite of it.
We hope you will take this and our music with you, that you will seize your days and pursue that which inspires you.
After over a decade, Logos is ready to rest.
Cheers, and thank all of you who have supported us over the years. See you around...
