Burlesque, Pinup modeling, Acting, Producing Films, Fashion Designing, Singing, Playing the Piano, Sailing, Horseback riding, Hiking, Traveling, Reading, oh my....there's too many! I just love life
Television
Breakout Entertainment's Television Series "Lola LaBelle presents L'Originale Burlesque", of course. Other than that anything on the history or discovery channels.
Books
Passionate Minds by David Bodanis, Love in the Time of Cholera and all Marquez's other works, anything by Shakespeare, Sex with the Queen,...my apartment is half books, the list would go on too long. But if you're ever in a bookshop, particularly Hatchard's of London, and would like to buy me something nice I'm a sucker for biographies on daring women and all things taboo and fascinating.
Heroes
Emilie du Chatlet, Madame de Pompadour, Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren, women who fought the odds they were presented with and made something incredible of themselves.
About me: To some burlesque is a spectacular strip tease with dancers adorned in thousands of glittering jewels, to others it’s a political statement on what being a woman means today. For the burlesque world’s fastest rising star Lola LaBelle, it’s both.
Beginning her burlesque career less than two years ago in glamour capitol of the world Los Angeles, Lola LaBelle’s award winning performances and well known audience affinity have made her an obvious headlining act, having performed for crowds of up to 2500, and headlining stages like the sunset strip’s Key Club. Even more than that though, it’s her feminist ideals and commitment to empowering other women through burlesque that have helped her gain her true international support. In a world where popular culture is dominated by plastic pop stars, Lola LaBelle’s naturally beautiful, intoxicatingly sensual, and deeply feminist burlesque offers more than just a breath of fresh air, it promises a revolution.
Having been featured in over 100 international newspapers and major online blogs such as TMZ, The Sydney Daily Telegraph, and London’s Sunday Mail; With costumes that rival those of Dita Von Teese; a natural onstage charm that won her “Most Beautiful” at Boston’s 2008 Burlesque Festival; and a blossoming empire underneath her that includes a cross continental burlesque school, a lingerie boutique, her own couture line, and a soon to be released instructional DVD, Lola’s star continues to burn brighter—and it’s not hard to see why.
This November Lola will be setting forth on her first tour of Australia, to be followed by a spring/summer tour of the UK and Europe. If this shooting star keeps soaring, burlesque and feminism will never be the same again…nor have they ever looked so good together.
A television pilot she recently produced, entitled "Tales From The Bordello: Burlesque Noir"
Who I'd like to meet: People who love life. People who love burlesque. People who enjoy the finer things in life. People who enjoy my finer things in their lives.
