London Urban Collectiveresurfaces for its third consecutive year with another unique showcase of new British Hip Hop.
This year the album was recorded in London and mixed in Atlanta by Karl Heilbron (TLC, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, 2Pac Shakur, Keith Sweat, Jermaine Dupri).
Thirty young artists and producers from the streets of London collaborated to write and record “London Urban Collective III – ATL” in just 20 days under the guidance of executive producers Resin and Jay King. Guest artists Kele Le Roc, Blue (Basement Jaxx), Yap (Pink Punk), guitarist Massey (One Minute Silence) and saxophonist Joe Leader also lent their time and experience to the project.
An excellent project, I hope it continues on and on. Phoebe One, Choice FM
Its not often that well meaning community projects produce genuinely compelling results, but the London Urban Collective is a noble exception. 4/5 IDJ Magazine
This project shows what marginalized youth can achieve with access to facilities and encouragement. 4/5 Metro Life
The Kids are alright ! This youth education project put thirty kids from deprived London boroughs in the studio with producers Resin and Jay King. The resultant rough edged grime and hip hop tracks, with often wise and witty wordplay, are far better than rapping over ring tones on the bus 3/5 DJ Magazine
For those who prefer to go the source of hip hop/grime rather than listen to the homogenised dross served up by the majors, trust me, you will find London Urban Collective III a startling success story. 8/10 Future Music
