STUFF
Hi...
I'm Joe, I play a lot of places, ride a lot of bike, write a lot of songs, and have got to know a lot of sofas pretty goddamn intimately (actually the floor's usually better - guaranteed full-length-stretch-out)... One thing I don't have a lot of is money. Huh. My bag usually has: spare strings, toothbrush, random bits of paper and between 3-5 socks, of which about 4 are hopefully clean at any one time.
For about a year in 2007 I played with a band called The Power. We played a bunch of gigs and some festivals and stuff. We had a van called Puncher, he got nicked with all the stuff in.
Last summer I managed to get robbed again (this time in Miami) and so a sightseeing trip turned into a 2-month busking tour of the eastern US up to NYC. But I got to see Obama getting elected and wrote a bunch of songs. Tant mieux.
Now I play on my own a lot of the time but for some shows I get the band together. Like this summer when I toured the UK for a fortnight on bicycle. We played the songs of the fine piece of vinyl you see advertised up on that banner up there, and raised a whole lot of hell and a little bit of money for some good causes. Hey, you can still buy that thing and get Oxfam some cash.
The plan for 2010 is to take about 20 songs (some new; some old; some surprises) and do a double LP. Gonna call it Loud & Quiet, you'll see why in the spring, right?
BIG XMAS FREE SONGS GIVEAWAY
Over every day in December up to Christmas Day I'm giving away a different song for free each day!
I'm a bit excited about this.. I haven't figured out the whole tracklist, some of them aren't even finished yet. Fuck, some probably aren't even written yet, for all I know..
I think I wanna get back to a clean slate for this album you see. Plus stuff gets recorded to be heard, no? Some of them are old stuff, some demos. Some released, some on tape, some never heard. Plus some live gems. I'll be letting people know on Facebook & Twitter what the tracks are each day.
Perhaps if you like the tracks you'll donate to
Oxfam,
Campaign Against Arms Trade,
Jail Guitar Doors or
Ocean Youth Trust, hmm?
TODAY'S SONG: 'Coffee'.... which is a song about coffee and other things I like.. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't basically an Evan Dando rip-off...

BOOKINGS
Just send me an email. I do solo stuff at short notice whenever I can if it looks like fun. Which it usually is, hey? Band stuff I need at least 2 weeks' notice for and we have to be able to cover travel (from either Southampton or London). Just the way it is, sorry!
