Lonesome Fugitive was formed in 1993 by brothers Jerry and John Virden and named after Merle Haggard's popular song of the same name. In the first years the band played mostly top 40 style country music. About 2000 the band change it's format from top 40 to classic country like Faron Young, Wynn Stewart and more. The band stays very busy playing all around Iowa and parts of Missouri. They have a very long song list and perform some of the best Honky Tonk music you ever hear. Unfortunately the songs on this profile are very old and from an unfinished CD project from 1998. The bands sound and style has really changed with more twang from Phil's hot silver sparkle Telecaster (actually it's a G&L) and Fender Twin Reverb amp, tons of cryin' steel guitar from Danny Hedlund, just pure honk tonk !! Lonesome Fugitive is in the planning stages of starting a new recording project with plans to release in early summer 2007.
