So bummed that the flu kicked my butt and am still too sick to play tonight!!! Next time we come back, we'll be ready to rock our favorite bar with new tunes.
Well, the great day has arrived. I hold in my hands at this very moment a printed e-ticket for a flight back to Texas! I'M COMIN' HOME!!! WOOOOOO HOOOOOOO!!!
I arrive in Austin at 3:29 in the afternoon the day after Christmas. Let's see how long it takes for me to get to the bar.
Somehow it's just not Thanksgiving without cramming in some of Larry's famous Thanksgiving spread with a Pearl or ten after a giant meal at my Dad's house.
Someone get bloated and slam down some Pearls for me, will ya?
Looks like I need to do some rumor control as to exactly when I might be returning to the loving arms of the Lone Star Bar.
But first, I’ll say that it DAMN SURE ISN’T SOON ENOUGH! Rest assured that I desperately want to come home and will come home as soon as I can. I am damn tired of living in a sea of rude, inconsiderate, impatient, hyperkinetic people, plus I've slipped from Pearl Drinkin' Poor to Pabst Blue Ribbon Swillin' Poor to Can't Even Afford PBR Poor. PBR is the cheapest beer at the 326 Bar in the Farmers Market, my temporary home-away-from-home. Some community and a few decent regulars there, but NOTHING like the LSB, of course. The LSB is truly one-of-a-kind.
Most of all, though, I miss Texas and Texans, especially all of you.
Anyhow, right now, I don't know exactly when I’ll be back. The latest line is no sooner than November 10. That "no sooner than" part is really important. I've given a few "no sooner than" dates to some of y’all (no names, please) in the past couple of months, but it seems y’all have been forgetting the "no sooner than" part.
Anyway, the 10th is when the roach folks come in again, so I'll have to be here at least until then. So, until sometime after the 10th when I can get a job here to scrape up enough for a bus fare home and a job in Austin to come back to, no comee homee just yet.
