The Long Beach High School Concert Choir has a long and valued history of commitment to excellence. As having been acknowledged as one of the finest high school choral programs in the South, the Concert Choir and its additional ensembles, during the past 30 years, has received countless superior ratings at district, state, and national levels. In 1980, the Concert Choir performed a solo concert at the National Convention of the Music Educators National Conference. The Choir has pursued cultural studies while performing for audiences in Canada, Mexico, Germany, Hungary, Austria, Spain, Switzerland, the British Isles and throughout the United States. In addition to performing for Presidents Reagan and Bush, the Concert Choir was the first South Mississippi High School choir to perform a solo performance at New York City’s famed Carnegie Hall as well as singing in St. Patrick’s Cathedral. The Choir, for over 25 years, founded and hosted the Gulf Coast Choral Festival - a festival that eventually became the largest choral festival in the state. This was initiated by Mrs. Joanne Edwards - retired choral conductor of 25 years for the Concert Choir.
The Concert Choir, over the past 30 years, has had many different types of ensembles to prevail from its success. The madrigal singers, a select 10-16 person ensemble, concentrates on selections from the Renaissance. Students who achieve a higher level of commitment to the arts and demonstrate appropriate abilities in vocal talent, compete to become members of this select ensemble. The madrigal singers perform heavily throughout the school year.
I must say, all in all this has been a great year for our choir. Straight Superiors for ALL CONTESTS, all auditionees for ACDA Honor Choir made it and many for MMEA and a few for TrebleSong. We had some rough patches but it was an excellent year. The Italy Tour was outstanding and St. Peter's Basilica was a once in a life time experience. We are going to miss ALL of our seniors and wish them all to come back for our concerts, especially Christmas and of course for the Reunion Concert to be held my senior year in 2010. Put me as number 1 now! I might not have as many pleasing features as matt but i am way more talented than him and last time i checked talent always wins..
there are a couple of things i dont understand about this group:
1) who the heck made it? i still don't know. 2) what the heck? brett and matt are top friends before me? ....all they do is sing, and occasionally make us laugh.
Mr. Dunlap go ahead and own up to making it because there are probably only two people that know that much about the concert choir and they would be you and Mrs. Edwards, and i seriously doubt that Mrs. Edwards made it. lol
like, no one knows who made this thing. ive asked and asked around choir and no one knows. it was just here one day. lol. i thought maybe dunlap, or carter, or amanda, but none of them did it.
