The music of Longing for Orpheus is intended to be beautiful, serene, and soulful, and to convey a Message - Live with Passion.
Origins:
It's difficult to say when Longing for Orpheus came into being. The seed was planted in my mind long before I touched a synthesizer, when I first heard Enigma's "Return to Innocence." The emotional resonance of that song led me to Enigma's discography, then to every similar artist I could find. Over a number of years, I obtained a couple of synthesizers and continued to expand my knowledge of music in various ways (I once sang in an opera and played keys in an industrial band on the same weekend). After many failed attempts, I finally managed to write a song I enjoyed listening to. That was in 2003. Here we are, a few short years later, and the first Longing for Orpheus album is complete. It's been both a thrilling and humbling journey. I think of it, though, as a first chapter.
About the name:
There is magic in the unknown, and so I leave to you the specific interpretation and meaning of the name "Longing for Orpheus." However, I have read attacks and condescending remarks made about artists assuming names other than their own, and I would like to offer a defense.
This project is not synonymous with myself. I view it as a seperate, artistic creation. While I certainly infuse elements of myself into it, and I do stand for the Message of Longing for Orpheus, it is not all I am. I have strong opinions on many political and philosophical issues - most of them have no place here. If I try to make my art a complete reflection of myself, I reduce its value to everyone different from me, and that is a lot of people.

"...humanity is now entering a new stage of evolution where the task is to shift the focus of consciousness from the outer world to the inner one, from a material existence to a more spiritual, purposeful life.
The purpose of life, according to the ancients, is to make our spirit self-conscious on all levels of reality, to gather life's experiences, one by one, and carry them back to the Source.
And since life is movement, there is nowhere to stop. We are always in process, the process of becoming. The universal energy, of which we are a part, is directional. It takes us upward and inward, heading toward our Source.
A natural law of physics, discovered long ago, dictates that everything returns to its source."

"The world within is the Universal Fountain of supply, and the world without is the outlet to the stream. Our ability to receive depends upon our recognition of this Universal Fountain, this Infinite Energy of which each individual is an outlet, and so is one with every other individual."
~Charles F. Haanel ~
"Man is a stream whose source is hidden, our being is descending into us from we know not whence... When I watch that flowing river, which, out of regions I see not, pours for a season it's streams into me, I see that I am a pensioner, not a cause, but a surprised spectator of this ethereal water..."
