2T2P Live at Lee's Liquor Bar on Thursday, July 23, 2009! It's been way too long! Come help Monty get his mojo unclogged!
The DeCarlo brothers hail from Loves Park, Illinois, where they performed as children in the legendary "Mama DC's Fun-time Family Band". As the boys grew into men, the brothers Monty, Dee Dee, and Iffy discovered the joys of rock music, loose women, and fermented spirits. Their pursuit of these delights inevitably led them to that hot-bed of sin, Minneapolis, Minnesota, where they were joined by their talented and road-hardened cousins Jobbee and Rory and began performing as 2 Tickets 2 Paradise.
Since their first appearance on the Minneapolis scene in the late '90s, 2 Tickets 2 Paradise have become a beloved and respected institution. First achieving popularity with their earnestly ironic assault on 70’s and 80’s arena rock, the band soon became revered for their seemingly endless repertoire and musical fearlessness. And some fans find them pretty funny too.
Asked recently about the secret to their amazing mastery of 50 years of rock, lead singer Monty DeCarlo replied “We never, ever rehearse. Heck, I live halfway across the country from the rest of those clowns, and we're still the fiercest band in the US of A."
2T2P’s incredible versatility may also be attributed to the fact that for five legendary years the band appeared every Thursday night at Lee’s Liquor Bar in Minneapolis. “Getting paid to get drunk and rock out with my brothers every week was a rough job," says Dee Dee DeCarlo, “but somebody had to do it.”
2 Tickets 2 Paradise were even honored with the Minnesota Music Academy’s award for Best Cover Band of 2000, an honor these men did not take lightly. “I got myself a brand new fake moustache for the award ceremony," recalls Jobbee. “And lost it the same evening in a bowl of chili. Man, that was good chili.”
These days 2T2P can still be found serving up hot and heaping helpings of meat-and-potatoes rock-n-roll wherever folks are starved for it, from Minneapolis to Los Angeles. In fact, keep your ears open for the sound of swaggering rock and swooning women, 'cause the DeCarlos may be heading to your town...
