Sounds Like
Mmmmmmm, difficult one this! I write the songs from my heart, the music comes from many places, so many sounds that could be from here and there, but really we are just LongSpoon, its our sound....Influences are there as we are all reflections of our experiences and preferences....Technology and rock combined to create what I believe is currently needed today in the music industry.....Peace and love to you all........
The video here was shot by Marcus Wicks on a hand held sony cybershot camera. It captures the spirit of LONGSPOON's performance at Otford memorial hall on 28th Feb 2009. With trance laced lyrics and mesmerizing guitar solo's, hypnotic bass lines and fresh lively beats, delivered with power that is just mind blowing. All in all a great gig for the lads and they certainly fulfilled the duty of a warm up act to Absolute Bowie.
.. I recently finished editing the original video I took at the conception of Symphony Of Man the song. I have decided to put it out on the web as a tribute to increase global awareness of PEACE & HOPE!
The song was written in the heart of Baghdad, Iraq on the 7th Sept 2006. At the time, the country was undergoing a period of heightened civil war. The situation appeared to be hopeless with no obvious solutions to ending the conflicts.
I see this song as a pure manifestation, that attempts to capture the emotions and feelings of this period in history. The message is one that I feel relates to any land that finds itself on the brink of war. I wish it to act as a reminder of the pointlessness of this path as the chosen outcome.
Peace & Love

I shot this video on a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W100 camera. It is my first attempt at a video, and I had to do it, for an opportunity that arose. The only chance I had was prior to a gig, and we did it as a sound check. So the sound is raw, we are sound-checking, and it's only a little digital camera. Excuses aside it has turned out ok, and I feel captures a bit of the power Longspoon can create live. I edited it last night on my MacBook Pro using iMovie, which I had to learn last night too.... Hope you like it....

IN THE BEGINNING...
The LongSpoon project began in spring 2005 during the recording of the song Green Eyed Hungry Machines. LongSpoon was created by Paul Bennett, a singer song writer, who has been making music for 17 years. Paul is well travelled and has an interesting history, which has provided experiences and insights that he combines with his passion for creating music and spreading positivity.
"For me it’s about the lyrics and playing original songs live, that’s why I do it. I want to experiment with the technology, create bridges between the various types of music. Trying to get a sound that’s new and exciting to me is a buzz”. ..
THE BAND
LongSpoon consists of Paul Bennett, Gez Butcher, Eddie Collins, Pete Shaw. A variety of guest guitarists have worked with us, including James Fairfoul, Larry Oliver, Andy Mac and now Timmy Moore. It's looking like Tim is here to stay after a great start, so watch this space. He really adds to the mix in a strong way. The band's live sound is a combination of raw enthusiasm and hard won experience, with the freedom of expression for each musician to create a sound that is both original and exciting.
LongSpoon is first and foremost a live band that perform with a powerful sound and distinctive melodies to create that feel good factor that live shows should have. Our aim is to give every audience a performance that's unique, memorable and, above all, enjoyable.
THE MUSIC
LongSpoon have been working hard on the debut album 'Symphony Of Man' which is now available from itunes and other digital stores. Also the CD hard copy will be available soon from www.longspoon.net or available now at all live performances.
..
Following the first studio sessions, where 18 tracks were laid down at Audio Sorcery with producer Paul Midcalf, we went on to work with Song Writer and Musician Ben Copland to develop the project even further. The next few months I spent completing the production work on all the tracks chosen for the album, and then James Muir applied his mixing skills to give the final polish.
Each song is a reflection of experiences, and a journey over the past few of years. The vision was to create an album of insight, imagination and observation, that captures the spirit of our times. It has been a long while coming, but the dream is NOW realised!
At last the debut album "Symphony Of Man" is now available to download for £7.99 via itunes. Just click here
