Long Tall Shorty – where do you start? In 1978 I suppose – formed by Tony Perfect as a leading light in the Mod Revival movement releasing the iconic singles “By Your Love/1970’s Boy” and “Win or Lose” amongst others.
The power, energy and excitement was always present in their live sound gaining them a dedicated live following with residencies at the 100 Club and Marquee the highlight of many of a teenage dream, sadly for a generation they split up in 1982.
Reforming in 2000 they have released several albums including “Completely Perfect”, “A Bird In The Hand” and the much heralded Rhythm and Blues album “Women & Trouble”.
The line has always been a fluid feature of Long Tall Shorty and now features a stripped down three piece, Tony Perfect - Vocals/Guitar, John Woodward – Bass and Jim Piddington on Drums. Along with the stripped down line-up Shorty have pioneered a new style of music “Giffer Punk” and have taken this away from the traditional haunts of Soho and Central London to the far flung reaches of Europe to spread the Giffer sound.
Tony Perfect recently said “There’s nothing wrong with what we were doing but we realised there’s a load of kids out there crying out for something Giffer, so we’re givin’ it to them.”
The new album “Welcome To Giffer City” is currently being recorded and will be released on the 8th October on Time For Action Records.
Just when you think it can't get much better and then last night happened - OMG anyone managing to see you in Germany or Italy are in for the most pleasant of surprises I can't wait for Italy but first there's The 100 Club weeeeeeee!

Und schon mal als Vorankündigung für Dezember: Long Tall Shorty und Beatrevolver spielen auf unserer Weihnachtsparty am 26.12.(Samstag)! Wir haben also den Termin um einen Tag von Freitag auf Samstag verlegt - Long Tall Shorty sind ja immerhin ne alte Mod-Legende und Beatrevolver rocken das Haus ja auch wie keine anderen. Vielleicht kurz ein paar Infos noch zu den Bands: LTS gehörten 79 zusammen mit The Chords und The Purple Hearts zu den Zugpferden des Modrevivals und spielten den für diese Zeit typischen Modpunk / Powerpop. Long Tall Shorty waren jedoch für damalige Verhältnisse um einige Ecken härter und nahmen, was die Musik und die Haltung anging, wohl einiges dem Streetpunk Anfang der 80iger voraus. Kein Wunder, dass es bei der Besetzung der Band Überschneidungen mit den Angelic Upstarts gab....Ihre neue Platte ist vor kurzem auf Time For Action Records ein Label was ich nur empfehlen kann ) erschienen, tja und ich muss gestehen, dass ich nach Jahren mal wieder richtig Spaß am Punkrock bekommen habe...Sehr coole Scheibe, die absolut nach vorne los geht und bei mir schon die höchstzahl an Punk-Points ( und Mod-Points) bekommen hat. In Zeiten, in denen so genannte "Punkbands" Fußballstadien und Massenbespaßungsgroßhallen ins Feuerzeuglichtermeer tauchen tut so eine Band wie Long Tall Shorty einfach gut! Wer auf die alten The Clash und The Jam steht und auf Sham 69 oder die Buzzcocks abfährt, der wier diese Band lieben!!!!!
