   About longtime listener
Welcome to Longtime Listener, a record label based in Sydney, representing the territories of Australia & New Zealand.

What are we about? We’re Longtime Listeners – we grew up with music around us, we love it, and we want the good stuff on the stereo all the time.

We release the good stuff too, only great records from top quality artists, there’s no chumps, chimps, turkeys or duds here. You won't even find a “patchy but mostly good” entry in this catalogue.

And we’ve released some contemporary classics in our short time, records that can be solidly slotted into any good listener’s collection, and look damned handsome in the company.

Our first 18 months saw the release of bona fide classic albums from artists such as The Hold Steady, Martin Craft, Pinback, They Might Be Giants, The Fiery Furnaces and The Earlies.

And beyond the better-knowns, The Broken West, Goldenhorse, John Vanderslice, Dimmer, Baby Dayliner, The M’s and Radar Bros. also released essential albums for any discerning collection.

2008 has seen some pretty amazing records released too, check out albums by Scott Matthew, Bowerbirds, The War On Drugs and Danny George Wilson to do yourself the proverbial favour.

Soundwise, we don’t discriminate. in our world, folk sits snugly next to electronic music, and country and rock are really just 2 sides of the same coin.

Aside from good retail stores and digital outlets across Australia and New Zealand, Longtime Listener releases can be purchased via Fuse Music Group in Australia orders@fusemusic.com.au and via Rhythmethod in New Zealand sales@rhythmethod.co.nz

For publicity and promotions enquiries, please contact either the label direct info@longtimelistener.com.au or Fuse Music Group promo@fusemusic.com.au

A spot of history: The crew at Longtime Listener originally kicked off the Rogue Records label, Antipodean home to artists such as CocoRosie, The Hold Steady, Caribou, El Perro Del Mar, Vashti Bunyan and Califone, to name but a handful. Most of these artists are still part of the wider Longtime Listener family, and many either have or will be releasing on LL in the future.

Here’s a quick stroll through the catalogue. Remember, every record's a winner and is guaranteed to find a happy home in yours or a loved one’s collection...

So LIS’N UP!

LISN82001 - The Hold Steady 'Boys And Girls In America'

3rd and best album by New York’s greatest-ever bar band. Features “Chips Ahoy!” and “Stuck Between Stations”. LL version includes 4 bonus tracks, 3 previously unreleased.

LISN82002 - Goldenhorse 'Run Run Run' EP

A big name in their native NZ, this debut Australian EP is brimming with superb pop smarts that pulls songs from each of the band’s previous albums, and some new recordings.

LISN82003 - The Broken West 'I Can't Go On, I'll Go On'

Sensational debut of West Coast rock from this LA quintet, stuffed to the seams with good tunes and supreme harmonies. LL version includes 2 bonus tracks from the band’s debut EP.

LISN82004 - Baby Dayliner 'Critics Pass Away'

A one-man band rekindling the flames of Sinatra, JB and Spandau, with a bit of Bowie and The Smiths thrown in. LL version includes 2 bonus tracks, one previously unreleased.

LISN82005 - Martin Craft 'Silver And Fire'

Truly superb debut solo album from an incredibly talented Australian singer/songwriter, informed by pop, jazz and rock alike. LL version includes a fantastic 8 track bonus disc.

LISN82006 - The Earlies 'The Enemy Chorus'

The magnificent 2nd album from the critically acclaimed Trans-Atlantic collective. Dark and mysterious, it is also colourful and vibrant, and has multiple layers to immerse yourself in.

LISN82007 - Dimmer 'There My Dear'

A legend in our lifetime, Shayne Carter (ex-Straitjacket Fits)’s new band’s 3rd album is a moody, noirish, soul-rock masterpiece. LL version includes 5 out-of-print bonus tracks.

LISN82009 - They Might Be Giants 'The Else'

No introductions required for album 12, this is simply their best record since ‘Flood’. Top shelf songs, co-produced by The Dust Brothers. LL version includes a 23 track bonus disc of rarities.

LISN82011 - The M's 'Future Women'

The sophomore album from this Chicago quartet, whose sound brings to mind a heady brew of Ray Davies and Marc Bolan. LL version includes 2 exclusive bonus tracks.

LISN82012 - Pinback 'Autumn Of The Seraphs'

Their 4th and best, a dense and layered restrained rock gem. This band redefines subtlety and nuance, and makes incredibly rewarding records. LL version includes a bonus 3 track EP.

LISN82013 - John Vanderslice 'Emerald City'

One of America's most important songwriters, period. His 6th album is another phenomenal work of beautiful songs about hideous things. LL version includes 2 bonus tracks.

LISN82014 - The Fiery Furnaces 'Widow City'

Unquestionably the best album from NYC’s warped siblings, Matthew and Eleanor Friedberger, with a dizzying storyline, and mixed by John McEntire. LL version includes bonus track.

LISN82015 - Goldenhorse 'Reporter'

New Zealand’s smartest pop band unleash their 3rd full-length recording in a tight, direct statement of intelligent, melodic pop. Incredible tunes. LL version includes bonus track.

LISN82016 – Danny George Wilson 'Danny And The Champions Of The World'

Australian singer/songwriter and leader of UK alt country heroes Grand Drive, his 2nd solo album is a magnificent patchwork of jam-band folk, country and pop. LL version includes bonus track.

LISN82017 – Radar Bros. 'Auditorium'

LA’s finest mellow pop trio become a quartet, and in the process add an extra dimension to their breezy, sun-drenched charms. This is their best album. LL version includes 2 exclusive bonus tracks.

LISN82018 – The Plastic Constellations 'We Appreciate You'

4th album by these revered NYC-via-Minneapolis power-pop punks (with more than a dash of artful prog thrown in). “Discovered” by The Hold Steady, but loved by all.

LISN82019 – Scott Matthew 'Abandoned/Prescription'

Double-A sided single by a very special Australian singer/songwriter, heard on the ‘Shortbus’ and ‘Ghost In The Shell’ soundtracks. Also includes non-LP cut “Language” and video.

LISN82020 – Scott Matthew 'Scott Matthew'

Remarkable debut solo album from the cult singer, a must-have for fans of Bowie, Antony & The Johnsons and Rufus Wainwright. Simply stunning! LL version includes a bonus 9 track live CD.

LISN82021 – Bowerbirds 'Hymns For A Dark Horse'

Utterly gorgeous debut from a trio who live completely off the grid. A love-letter to the Earth and a plea for humans to do a better job of living on it. LL version includes 2 bonus tracks.

LISN82022 – The War On Drugs 'Wagonwheel Blues'

Sensational debut from a Philly bunch who somehow make the sounds of Springsteen and Tom Petty sound amazingly fresh, mixing it up with drones and other sonic ambience.

LISN82023 – The Fiery Furnaces 'Remember'

Collecting songs and performances from their entire career, this 51 track double live album sports some radical reworkings. LL version includes download coupon with extra tracks and stuff.

LISN82024 – Soy Un Caballo 'Les Heures De Raison'

A delightful Belgian boy/girl duo with a wonderful debut album, produced by The High Llamas’ Sean O’ Hagan and featuring Bonnie “Prince” Billy. LL version includes 3 exclusive bonus tracks.

LISN82026 – The Broken West 'Now Or Heaven'

Our heroes from LA have returned, eschewing their ragged rootsiness and delivering a succinct statement of super-tight, highly melodic pop. LL version includes exclusive bonus track.

Thanks for listening!

Wat up longtime listener,
I'm not usually into the whole mass commenting thing, so apologies if this comes across like some spam...but it aint!
Just in case you haven't checked it yet...here's my new video for Whoa (remix with PNC & Flowz).
Directed by Shahir Daud with a tiny $6000 budget and a solid 7 months in post production!
Lemme know what you think and feel free to help a dude out by linking your friends up if you think they might like it!
