Ani Difranco, Melanie Safka, Jewel, Stevie Nicks, Tori Amos, Sarah McLaughlin, Nina Simone, Jose Gonzalez, Iron and Wine, The Carpenters, any one of the hundreds of other artists I listen to, and more than anything the people in my life that I love and/or loath, for they are my inspiration.

I've been told that I sound like Ani Difranco by some people. I have also been compared to Jewel's music on her first album.
Plainly put I play down to earth acoustic music about my experiences and the people in my life. My songs display raw emotional depictions of real life experiences. I try to make all of my music as real and genuine as I possibly can. If I feel there is anything insincere about a piece I am working on I will abandon that project and move on to another song. I think that music should be real and have meaning and not just be some music with senseless lyrics over it.
I have been singing as long as I have been able to speak, which given the chance I will do at length (both speaking and singing.) I was in choir all through school, and what seems like lifetimes ago I even sang at church. I started playing guitar when I was 15 years old and was immediately hooked. I haven’t stopped playing since. I'm an easy going realist, which I think is reflected in my music. I tell it like it is, with a thin sugar coating when necessary. I couldn't imagine my life without music, it is my sanity. So take it or leave it, here is my contribution to the art I love.
