Lookin Out: Steering Teens to Drive Safely's Blurbs
About me:
Thousands of teenagers die every year on America’s roads.

As a result, families are destroyed, friends are left heartbroken, schools are shaken and communities are impacted.

What is the cause? Inexperience, immaturity, distractions, impairment and the feeling of invincibility often play a role in teen crashes.

What is the solution? How does America put a stop to teen driving deaths?

Erie Insurance is committed to putting an end to needless deaths on our roadways and therefore is working with teenagers to combat the problem. Lookin’ Out is a safe teen driving initiative created by teens for teens and encourages teenagers to talk to other teens about safe driving.

Who I'd like to meet:
Students from our member schools, teen drivers, concerned teens, parents of teenagers, crash victims, grieving friends and family, and anyone else who has thoughts to share about the teen driving epidemic affecting America.

What are teens’ views on driving? Do all teens feel invincible? How can teen traffic deaths be prevented? Are stricter laws the answer? Is more training needed? What are the teen driving laws in your state and how effective are they in helping prevent crashes?

How serious do teenagers perceive the problems of speeding, lack of seat belt use, impaired driving and risk taking among teens?

If you've been involved in a crash, or have a loved one that has been lost in a crash, how have your views about driving changed?

THE LAST SHOW

Dedicated to Casey Bokhoven

Nov 18 2007 10:17 AM

GREAT page- so needed. Four guys from Davidson County, North Carolina, were involved in a high speed crash Memorial Day Weekend 2007. The car was split in half as it hit a tree after the driver missed a curve on a country road. The crash was so severe that the seatbelts were severed- not unlatched- from the impact, and three were thrown from the car. So sad. The news vids are on the bottom left of Casey's page. I feel so bad for the families who are in so much pain from their loss.

Casey loved his family and friends, tattoos, cooking (he was about to go to culinary school in NYC) and music, lots of music! He played the guitar and drums and went to local indie rock shows with his brother, sis-in-law and friends every chance he got.

Thanks for being a friend and supporting Casey. He is missed so much.

When it comes time to choose- Have a designated driver, call a friend, call a cab or be a true friend and take the keys. There's too much to lose by drinking and driving.

TONIGHT doesn’t have to be- THE LAST SHOW…
