   About Lookout Joe

Lookout Joe are a new piano-led 3-piece emerging from the up-and-coming Coventry scene. They are jumping straight out of university into the ears of anyone and everyone willing to listen! During their school days the trio swore to reunite following their studies to spread the music they loved playing and they have dedicated the year 2008 to do just that! Ed, Ben and Drew - three classically trained, 23 year old graduates, produce piano-led pop/rock that is both instantly accessible yet has enough depth for repeated listening.
The band’s influences vary significantly but range from all time greats like David Bowie, The Beatles and locals heroes The Specials to contemporary artists such as Elbow, Coldplay and Ben Folds. The simple line-up of just piano, bass, drums and three vocals demands refined song writing and careful instrumentation, as well as a high level of musical proficiency from the boys. Ultimately, it creates a sound that is unapologetically reminiscent yet refreshingly distinct.

Hi there Lookout Joe, its so very nice to meet your acquaitance, and thanking you muchly for being my (our) friend.

I hope you enjoyed our tunes - I thought you might do judging by the stuff you seem to be into like - if you fancy a couple of our mp3s for you ipod/nonbrandedmp3 player then just ping me your email address back for our mailing list (info about gigs and the like) OR just click here on these here words and I'll sort that out for you, probably in the next couple of days, quite busy.

Forgive the indulgence but I've just worked out how to do this so i'm gonna put it in here - its a video of us playing one of the songs we would send to you live @ Bull and Gate last month just to show you what it may be like, hope thats ok :)

Our next gig isnt for a while but will probably be at Metro on Tottenhem Court Road - (so not really that close to you if I'm being honest ha ha :), but who knows - you may be on holiday, or finding out what its like to visit somewhere with 10 million people in about a square mile :)

Thanks again, Stuart (from Lux Lisbon)

Trembling Bells & Different Girls
Wednesday 23rd July
LIVE @ The Tin Angel, Spon ST. Cov
Doors 8pm - 12.30am
£5 ticket

TREMBLING BELLS Since serving apprenticeships with some uniquiely talented songwriters (Bonnie Prince Billy, Jandek, Baby Dee, Alasdair Roberts, Red Krayola, Richard Youngs, Josephine Foster, Current 93, 6 Organs of Admittance et al) Alex Neilson has formed a new song based group who seek to reanimate the psychic landscapes of Great Britain and relocate them to some vague, mythic land where basic human crisis' are encountered and conquered via a love for canonical rock, traditional folk and Earlie Musik.
The Trembling Bells will perform as a quartet with Alex Neilson, Ben Reynolds and Lavinia Blackwall and Simon Shaw.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Different Girls consists of Tenerbous Liar drummer, Brendan Casey, Bassist Alex Miles and Dave Ridley on guitar. Having formed the group recently they produce a concoction of loosely structured music that delves into Black Metal, Folk and Shoegaze to create a music that often seems dreamlike with a sound reminiscent of Sonic Youth. While obtaining the ever recognizable Nick Cave style vocals. They've recently made appearances with the Castanets, Jesse Sykes, and an opening slot at Coventry's Sonic Boom Festival.

With more acts to follow.

I'd like to suggest that the LJ trio pay homage to drew's original band Thunderchild in honour of the Bodog regional finals and don some eyeliner - it is a metal label so if ever there was a time... the London crowd has its fingers crossed for a national finals appearance at the Astoria! x
