About me:
We are the tourist association for beautiful Dekalb County Alabama. I am John and here with me are Kayla, Michele and Avice. Me being out numbered 3 to 1, you now know why we are considered female here on MySpace.
DeKalb County is rich in history, we have wonderful friendly people and we enjoy some of the most beautiful scenery you will find anywhere. First of all we have Lookout Mountain and Sand Mountain and two scenic byways, Lookout Mountain Parkway and the Appalachian Highlands Scenic Byway in our county. Then we have Wills Valley in-between the mountains. This means anywhere you look in the county you are getting a great view of the mountains or if on top of the mountain a view of the valley below. We have the second deepest canyon east of the Mississippi River at the Little River Canyon National Preserve. We have DeSoto State Park, DeSoto Falls, Buck’s Pocket State Park and High Falls Park. We have many waterfalls and caves including the historic and beautiful Sequoyah Caverns. We have kayaking, rock climbing, rappelling and wild cave tours with True Adventure Sports. We have quaint small towns and villages, such as Mentone (home of the Mentone Springs Hotel, the oldest Hotel in the state of Alabama), Fort Payne (home of county music hall of fame group Alabama), Fyffe, Rainsville, Collinsville, Henagar, Ider, Crossville, Geraldine, Valley Head, Hammondville, Dogtown and Sylvania. We have the World’s Longest Yard Sale in August, the Antique Alley Yard Sale in May, and every Saturday Collinsville Trade Day.
