loopez is the brainchild of Uruguayan musician/producer Nico Costa, a solo project developed in two areas: the studio & the live act.
After playing different instruments in several bands and also deejaying at school parties and clubs from the mid 80’s, Costa started producing and experimenting with a PC at home on the mid 90’s while being an architecture student. As the end of the century was arriving and having finished his studies a time of changes came and the idea of his own music project became reality by the end of 1999. Months later started to play this music live with a band and also as a DJ set.
In 2003 released “pool” his debut album and some of the tracks became hits on local radios and also were used as a couple of TV shows soundtracks. One of the hits on this album was a version of Sexteto Electronico Moderno’s “New Soul”.
This uruguayan band that was in oblivion went back to life and on the same year loopez produced a S.E.M.’s greatest hits album. One year later the band re-formed to play a couple of sold out shows and a Remixes Album, also produced by loopez was released.
