LOOPLESS were born from “the necessity to do something different to what we were used to, more human, with more music and more organic”. It was this same necessity that made them come back. To the duo behind the concept, Kika Santos (vocals) and Hugo Santos (Rhodes piano and additional keys) they have joined N’Du (Drums) and Demian (double-bass) to discover that there is life after the first album of the band, one of the biggest successes of the now extinct Nylon Label. LOOPLESS are now in studio along with the producer Miguel Guia, preparing their awaited comeback to the stage in the hope of creating unique magical environments.
In 2003 the album LOOPLESS was shown to the world as “much more than just a soul record, having as basic influences Jazz, Funk and Soul”. The quality of both the sound and the Project was included in more than twenty compilations with distinguished examples such as Saint-Germain-Des-Pr..s Caf.. 4 (U.F.O, Nicola Conte, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Herbert), Buddha-Bar VI (Telep..pmusik, Erik Satie, Sarah Vaughan), Caf..mamsp vol.3 (Boozoo Bajou, Cibelle), Sweet&Sexy (Marvin Gaye,Jamiroquai, Erykah Badu and NERD), Another Night At the Triest - Urban Lounging (Mj cole feat. Elisabeth troy; Chet Baker) or even Man ray - vol.III selected by Thierry Klemeniuk & Nat Rahav (Fila Brazillia; Zero 7; Quantic; Troublemakers; Arkestra One feat. Nina Miranda).
One year later, confirming the preview of a “promising future” they headlined the Italian Festival Pietro Che Cantano and shared the stage with such names as Gilles Peterson, Nicola Conte and Rainer Truby. Internationally acclaimed, in Portugal LOOPLESS became known as “the new face of Soul”. One could not expect less: “adventure, sophistication, delight, agitated and subtle soul, dance floor blues, warm voice of Soul Summer nights, sensuality, poetic and bold, defying, stimulating, soft whispers and murmurs” were some of the many adjectives and expressions used by both national and international critics in the years that followed.
It is this and much more that LOOPLESS have to offer in 2007. In an album that is awaited with great enthusiasm and expectation the group is confidant that the work that will be presented will be the result of total dedication and colossal passion for music, feeling they have kept and matured since 2003.
To anticipate the launch of the album and because “we miss our shows that take us to different audiences and spaces and to something more personalized and intimate”, Kika and Hugo long for their return through the larger door of the Portuguese musical scene, to welcome fans, friends and strangers that anxiously expect them.
