|
Rick Walker aka |()()p.p()()| has been an innovator in both the world music
percussion world and the international Live Looping movement.
He has performed as a headlining solo live looping artist in 12 countries in the past 3 years and has been responsible for producing or inspiring the production of 34 festivals of live looping in 15 countries in the past 5 years including the
world's largest live looping festival, the Y2k5 International Live Looping Festival
which last year hosted 50 artists from 7 countries in 5 days of performances in 3 cities (including the two day main festival held in Rick's hometown of Santa Cruz, California.
A master percussionist who is credited with being one of the founding architects of the World Beat movement in the early 1980's he is also a multi-instrumentalist who specializes in found sound, invented instruments and extended vocal techniques.
He has released two CD of abstract electronica (2001's Loop.pooL and 2005's
Purple hand), one CD culled from 50 solo live looping concerts , 2003's Translucent Dayglo Lime Green Plastic and on CD of vocal only material (2004's FAUX VOIX) that uses human voice or computer generated faux human voice as it's only source of sound.
He also toured behind his first ever Goth/Industrial pop release as ULTRA VIOLETTE, being a featured performer at the prestigious Japanese goth event, the Kobe Underground Festival in the summer of 2005 and is currently working on a full length synth Goth/Industrial/EBM project under that title.
He lives, performs, records, teaches and writes in his hometown of Santa Cruz, California.
