WHO LET THE KAYNON LOOSE?
Born Joachim Ikazoboh, on the 14th of June 1985, Loose Kaynon is a rap phenomenon who epitomises the true essence of the Nigerian mentality, which is “success against all odds”. He is currently signed to Waltbanger 101 Productions, the production arm of DDD Entertainment. He spent his childhood life in a military based environment in the ‘Crocodile’ city (Kaduna) before moving to Lagos to pursue a university education, which he manages to juggle effortlessly with his budding musical career. Loose is by far one of the most versatile rap acts on the Lagos circuit… an intelligent lyricist, that is as comfortable riding on a commercial beat as he is throwing punch lines on the more underground beats. Be it in English or ‘Pidgin’, his swagger (style) is often described as ‘ti poju’ – meaning, too much in Yoruba. And it is no wonder: with musical influences that include the likes of Notorious B.I.G, Lil Wayne, Jay-z, Nas, Rick Ross, Kriss Kross, and Fela Kuti.
Loose Kaynon’s debut single, IT’S OKAY, is an introduction to his immense swagger and features his friend and dancehall sensation PYPE. The video for this song was requested by MTV BASE for exclusive airing and is currently being previewed on all local music stations.
Loose was invited to perform at the ENTERTAINER album launch of D’BANJ, where he graced the stage with the countries top headliners; the likes of 9ice, P Square, Ikechukwu, Naeto C, and Banky W to name a few.
In a short space of time, Loose has racked up a number of high profile performances, and is steadily building up his credibility as not only a talented artist, but as an entertainer. His most memorable and notable outing to date, was his performance at the 2007 Felabration concert– an event in memory of the late Afro beat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti- where Loose captivated a 2000 strong crowd.This was a remarkable feat, given that it was Loose Kaynon’s first ever live stage performance.
Loose Kaynon, in his own words, is ‘more focused than ever’ on becoming an internationally celebrated artist. He believes that his music will be able to impact on as many lives as possible. He has worked tirelessly, To put together his Much anticipated debut album titled ‘KAN’T LOOK BACK.’ With a long list of sensational collaborations that include MI, reggae icon MAJEK FASHEK, new R&B sensation Chuddy K (who is rated as the next Wande Cole), and Nigeria’s new dance hall sensation PYPE. International rap star GOTTI (R Kelly’s protégée) linked up with Loose Kaynon to record the track ‘MADE IN NIGERIA’ and shot a yet to be released video during his recent visit to Nigeria. Since then, Gotti has invited Loose Kaynon to come on tour with him in the United States after he is done promoting his debut album, KAN’T LOOK BACK. This is an option Loose Kaynon is still considering and plans to take up in the future. Loose kaynon is tipped to feature on a remixed track with international rap superstar AKON, Loose’s label, DDD Entertainment, is currently in the process of wrapping up this deal.
Loose Kaynon is currently promoting his debut single SWAGGER 101 which is already gaining ground in the nigerian music scene getting major play in clubs and radio stations around the country.
Loose Kaynon is sort after in the underground Nigerian hip-hop scene. He just completed work on the best of Nigerian hip-hop mix tape called The Scriptures by Night House. Loose Kaynon is a hustler with a mainland mentality and an island swagger. In musical terms he is said to have the swagger of a lil Wayne, but with the lyrical capability of the Game and the versatility of Kanye West.
